Moussaka for dinner with a side of Greek-style salad and a glass of wine!
Our Greek moussaka is made the traditional way without shortcuts: layers of potatoes and eggplants fried in olive oil, a premium 100% pure beef ragu seasoned with all the classic spices and topped with again, EVOO-based béchamel sauce all baked to perfection! It goes well with a Greek salad. No leaves, just cucumber, green peppers, tomatoes and in this case, kalamata olives and with an oregano-based lemon and olive oil dressing! Deliberately omitted the onions but ask for it if you want it! Of course, it ain’t a Greek salad without P.D.O. feta cheese which is now sold in Manila, properly labeled instead of repacked! 😉 no daya.
It takes 4-6 hours to make moussaka that’s why ours is only available on weekends. It’s that special! But it if you order on a Sunday and resist to finish it in one sitting like most of our customers, you can reheat some during busy evenings like tonight! 🥰
There are plenty moussakas in the market, there’s also Egyptian and Turkish versions. Try them all and choose your favorite!

This week’s Greek salad literally has feta from Greece! It’s not always available but when it is, we offer it without increasing the price. Feta cheese is made from sheep’s or goat’s milk and is one of the few products in the EU that has been categorized under “protected designation of origin.” It’s always best to check the actual label of your cheeses.
Our Greek-style moussaka goes well with a Greek-style salad and this week, our lemon vinaigrette has Turkish olive oil.

PLANT-BASED MOUSSAKA: layers of potatoes, zucchinis, eggplants, and plant-based cheeses with Napoletana and béchamel sauces. 😋 It has dairy, soy, and nut-free unsweetened milk too, no need to worry about cholesterol, uric acid or sugar.
REHEATING Pro Tip: Keep the moussaka in the coolest part of your fridge (or no defrost freezer) then defrost when ready to eat. Slice the portion you want and heat in the microwave, pre-heated oven, or toaster. If in the oven, make sure you cover it with foil to avoid burning the béchamel as stated in our reheating instructions that come with every order. Of course it’s best eaten with a side of Greek-style salad!
Follow this tip and your moussakas will still look and taste great when reheated. Thanks to my involuntary advisor, my Cypriot classmate, Damiani for the tips!
