Darius Simpson is a writer, educator, performer, and skilled living room dancer from Akron, Ohio. Much like the means of production, he believes poetry belongs to and with the masses. He aims to inspire those chills that make you frown and slightly twist up ya face in approval. Darius believes in the dissolution of the empire and the total liberation of Afrikans and all oppressed people by any means available. His poetry book, Never Catch Me is now available.

today my book, Never Catch Me, is officially out in the world with Button Poetry and available in bookstores or whatever websites you get ya books from!! been working on this book since around 2018, much before i even knew i was writing a book.
my summary of this collection changes every time i describe it and will continue to change as i do. my intention is for these poems to be a gathering call, love letter, and battle song for Black folks (Afrikans) inside the so-called u.s. and a meditation on our capacity to move from passive survival to active struggle toward liberation. hopefully a source of joy, reflection, collective memory, and inspiration for revolutionary optimism.
