In the words of Coretta Scott King, “It doesn’t matter how strong your opinions are. If you don’t use your power for positive change, you are indeed part of the problem.” This in mind, I intend to use the power bestowed upon me to be an agent of positive change! A huge Thank You to each of you who supported me by making donations, volunteering or working on my behalf, offering my vision up in prayer and supporting me at the polls. I could not have been successful in my bid for the WSFCS Board - District 1 without each of you!
I look forward to working with each member of the Board, the Administration, teachers, staff, students and parents to make our system better. Again, thank you to each of you for having faith in my ability. Now the work begins!
Got my vote in, how about you? You have 2 hours and 8 minutes left! YOUR VOICE, YOUR VOTE!
Get your VOTE on……..
Just 4 more days of early voting. Our children need your voice!
Thank you to the Winston-Salem Journal for their article to highlight the lies that have been shared by my opponent.
“Denise Hartsfield wants Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill to retract what she says are false and negative campaign ads and mailers against her. If O’Neill doesn’t, Hartsfield said, she will consider filing a complaint with the State Board of Elections under the same state law that he used against N.C. Attorney General Josh Stein over a political ad from 2020.
“It is simply that these advertisements and paper writings knowingly provide false and misleading information that prejudices the opponent and that opponent is me,” Hartsfield said during a news conference across from the Forsyth County Hall of Justice on Friday afternoon.”
Happy Halloween!
It’s Trunk a Treat time.
Just five days and 1-1/2 hours left for early voting! Make your voice heard! VOTE

Want the truth? I will hold a press conference today, Friday, 10/28 at 2pm at the Forsyth County Hall of Justice!
“It is time for falsehoods to end and for the truth to finally be told”
-Retired District Court Judge and District Attorney candidate, Denise S. Hartsfield

The candidates for the Board of Education had our final forum last night and a definite voice was missing. In honor of Stan Elrod, an educator for education for all, and all that he stood for, get out and have your voice heard……..VOTE!
One of my favorite quotes by Coretta Scott King is:
“It doesn’t matter how strong your opinions are. If you don’t use your power for positive change, you are indeed part of the problem.”
I want to use my voice as an agent for positive!

Enjoyed the sights, sounds and so good smells of the Carolina Classic Fair tonight! Every year I look forward to our fair like a child on Christmas Eve. One of my favorite things to do while at the fair is walk through the Annex to enjoy the creativity of our students in the WSFCS. My last two years of teaching at Middle College of Forsyth I sponsored the Movie/Art Club. It was during our meetings and activities that I built meaningful relationships with students. It was also a time where students could experience my personality and love of all things creative and not just as a Mathematics Teacher. How I miss my time with my club students and the time we spent “Painting the Town with Positivity” while living through a very difficult time of the pandemic! Today I got a chance to see students creativity from some of my old stomping grounds (Ashley Elementary, Wiley Middle School, Glenn High School and RJ Reynolds High School). To all of the students of the WSFCS take advantage of some form of Art or Music while in school. It is pure Nourishment for the Soul.

School Board Election Meet your Candidates for Equity for District 1 and At-Large
Just wanted to share a post I ran across; thank you for your support ❤️
“The Forsyth County Association of Educators, after having candidates answer questions and after much discussion arrived at their list of endorsements for School Board. There are candidates from both parties in their list.
I trust their decision-making process....and congratulate the endorsees! Depending on where you live, you'll see different combinations of them when you go to vote. However, everyone will vote for the At-Large seats (countywide - Watts, Kaplan and Coone-Godfrey).”
It was school board day at this morning’s monthly meeting of the Senior Democrats of Forsyth County. We heard from several of our candidates, including Sabrina Coone-Godfrey (pictured).
This a critical election for the future of our public schools, and all the children and families who depend on them. That includes ALL of us, because our entire community, state, and nation depend on a well-educated public, whether or not we currently have school-aged children. We need to keep a school board majority who believe in making our highest-quality public education available for ALL the children of Forsyth County.
I urge all Forsyth County voters to support our Democratic candidates for board of education:
—At-Large: Richard Watts, Sabrina Coone-Godfrey, and Deanna Kaplan.
—District 1: Trevonia “BG” Brown-Gaither and Alex Bohannon.
—District 2: Jennifer Castillo.
(All Forsyth County voters can vote for the At-Large candidates. District 1 residents also vote for the District 1 candidates. District 2 residents also vote for the District 2 candidates.).
There are 59 days left before the General Election (Tuesday, November 8th). Early voting begins Thursday, October 20th and ends Saturday, November 5th. I need your support and vote! Remember:
YOUR VOTE, YOUR VOICE!

In the words of Coretta Scott King, “It doesn’t matter how strong your opinions are. If you don’t use your power for positive change, you are indeed part of the problem.”
With this in mind I am sincerely thankful for my BG Committee and for the support of time, talent and treasure of each my supporters in my successful bid for the WSFCS Board of Education - District 1.
This has been an overwhelming learning-on-the-job two and a half month journey—but definitely worth the time, the meeting/welcoming new and old friends and the endless/sleepless nights!
I plan to use the power bestowed upon me to affect positive change for the students, parents, and staff of our system. My ultimate goal is to ensure that all parties will have a S-E-A-T at the table concerning the education of our children and youth in the areas of Safety, Equity, Advocacy & Transparency. I will bring to the School Board 19 years of experience in this system and seeing first-hand some of the inequities that need to be addressed. Additionally, I will work tirelessly to ensure that as a system, we reduce the achievement gap between subgroups. Yes, these are lofty goals, but with the support of each of you, the incoming Board, the staff, the administration, and the students and their families, and the willingness to work together, we can achieve these goals.
Again, THANK YOU to each of you for having CONFIDENCE in my ability. NOW THE WORK BEGINS!
