Hello everyone!

October 27th is the day I was born. But what feels more important to me on this special day is it's the same day I decided to stop drinking and using drugs. Twenty-three years ago on my 19th birthday, I stopped poisoning my spirit and body. I feel this is just as important as my birthday because I honestly believe that if I continued on the road I was on, the birthdays would've stopped. They would've stopped because I knew I wouldn't be here today.

Through continued therapy and the evolution of myself as an individual from when I was 19 to now, I've learned a lot. Through books, research, creative expression, friendships, conversations and life's ups as well as downs, I've discovered one thing that I hold dear. Alcohol and drugs have no place in this life, especially as a First Nations person. I haven't always been proud of who I am but one thing that's helped me grow stronger and feel a sense of growing pride in who I am and where I come from is this; The longer I live my life without drugs and alcohol the closer each day I am to home. Each day I live without these poisons the roots between my body and spirit weave stronger and stronger. Every day I don't use drugs, I don't drink alcohol I grow closer to home. Closer to what's important in life. Closer to the things that matter. Closer to living my life like my ancestors once lived in a time when these poisons didn't exist.

Next month I'm very excited to be spending time in Saskatchewan and seeing my mother and relatives as I haven't been back to Saskatchewan since before the pandemic began which has been the longest time I've been away from where I grew up. I'll be on a guest speaker tour for Addiction Awareness between mid-November to early December sharing my story and journey to where I am now. It's been a while since I've done a tour like this so it's very exciting and I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone along the way. I'll be speaking at various public schools, recovery centres, reserve communities and organizations while I'm in Saskatchewan so if there's any interest out there in a guest speaker on addiction awareness please reach out or forward this post to someone you know who may have interest.

Thank you everyone for your love and support over the years. I haven't been on here much in the last few years and it means a lot for those who've stuck around.

Kind Regards- Justin Rain

Finally getting back to work on the road with my new five day Multimedia Camp and also my guest speaker series with Artist Inside. It’s been quite the personal journey the last few years. The pandemic, my life partner and wife, and significant changes to the pace of my life and many other positive shifts. Here is a summery of my guest speaker work to look over and share if there’s any interest for events that fit this format of talks. Hope everyone is well and staying healthy. I’ll be posting soon regarding the Multimedia Camp as well, very excited to share

YOUNG THIRDERS ARE COMING INTO THEIR OWN AND FINDING THEIR PLACE, VOICE, AND SOUND 17/08/2023

A very nice article and community response for my new Artist Inside project. A five day media camp project that launched in Membertou, Nova Scotia. So grateful and excited for what’s to come of this exciting new project!

YOUNG THIRDERS ARE COMING INTO THEIR OWN AND FINDING THEIR PLACE, VOICE, AND SOUND Nathin Hines started attending all-age shows in junior high and by the time he was old enough to get into the bars he had already formed his first band. But Hines is most known as the voice behind Keith Doom and the Wrecking Crew, a band that played the local scene until Covid hit. But now Hines, an...

Today was a good day. Great visit with the youth at Senitor Myles Venn School. My cousin Shane brought me in from Vancouver and it’s good to be home...Despite the freezing cold weather. Sharing story, exchanging knowledge, supporting one another. If any communities in the Prince Albert area are interested in guest speakers or a youth acting workshop facilitator I’m around till the end of the month! DM for inquiries. Hope everyone is well and keeping warm up here.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone is well and in good health. As many of you know I travel a lot for conference workshops and guest speaker events on and off reserve communities. Been sharing my story and journey for quite sometime now. Sharing my experiences with various addictions, most specifically drugs and alcohol but also a more positive and creative outlet of mine, my work as an actor. Been at it for over 10 years now and I've worked on just shy of 70 television episodes and about a half dozen major as well as small independent films to date. My parallel passion is conference work. Traveling to communities across Canada and the US sharing personal stories of trauma, addition, and most importantly, how I've overcome. As of October 31st this year I will be 20 years free from drugs and alcohol. Living free of these substances is a vital part of my life and also the single reason reason I'm still alive today. Everyday I don't drink, everyday I don't use drugs I'm closer to home.

Sincerely- Justin Rain
