It was not witches who burned
It was women
Women who were seen as
Too beautiful
Too outspoken
Had too much water in the well
Who had a birthmark
Women who were too skilled with herbal medicine
Too loud
Too quite
Too much red in her hair
Women who had a strong nature connection
Women who danced
Women who sung
or anything else, really.
Sisters testified and turned on each other when their babies were held under ice.
Children were tortured to confess their experiences with ‘witches’ by being fake executed in ovens.
Women were held under water and if they float, they were guilty and executed.
If they sunk and drowned they were innocent.
Women were thrown off cliffs.
Women were put in deep holes in the ground.
The start of this madness was years of famine, war between religions and lots of fear.
The churches said that witches, demons and the devil did exist and women were nothing but trouble.
Everything connected to a women became feared, especially her sexuality. It became labeled as dark and dangerous and was the core of the witch trials through out the world.
Why do I write this?
Because I think the usage of words are important, especially when we are doing the work to pull these murky, repressed and forgotten about stories to the surface. Because knowing our history is important. When we are doing the healing work of our lineages and as women. To give the women who were slaughtered a voice, to give them redress and a chance of peace.
It was not witches who burned.
It was women.

The mantra "F*ck the world" sums up one of my favorite moods: rebellion against everything everywhere. It's beyond anarchy and nihilism. It's my utopian yearning to subvert and vanquish every facet of humdrum reality and replace it with soulful beauty.
F*ck the world!
But wait! "F**k the world" also sums up my favorite ambition: to revel in full-blast omnidirectional intimacy. Empathy and compassion, yes yes yes, but even more: never-ending ecstatic connection with all of creation. Being in unconditional l***y love with everything everywhere.
Are these two meanings of "f*ck the world" contradictory? Maybe. Maybe not. I don't care. I love them bundled together.

How do we deal with the surplus of clothing? What to do with all that already exists? ♻️💚
Since legislation about fast fashion companies not being able to destroy, burn or send their ‘waste’ and returned clothing to landfill; I have found more and more pieces arriving in thrift shops and on the second hand market.
Often these are unworn, one off, sample pieces that have been made for big fast fashion companies. They are fun and jazzy and I find I can’t help but like some of them. They are perfect as bases for costumes and festival frolicks. Yet my knowledge and feelings about their origins and the working conditions of the garment workers who made them causes dissonance. We all want to be sparkly and pretty, but at what cost?
Is it okay to wear fast fashion if it’s not from the primary retail market? What can we do to help and what should we do with all that already exists? This secondary market at least keeps the profits out of the pockets of the big fast fashion companies and instead puts it into the hands of charities. When I wear pieces from this supply, I am honest about where I get them and engage in conversations about their origins. I also re-stitch a lot of the seams and strengthen the garments to try to ensure they last as long as they can. I don’t see them as cheap and disposable. I aim to keep them alive as long as possible and find other uses in upcycling projects when they die.
For any pieces I sell that come from this avenue, I will donate 10% of profits to and . 2 amazing charities that support garment workers rights and fight to improve legislation in the fashion industry. Directing money back to the garment workers that made these items.
Would you wear a piece like this? What else can be done with items like this that already exist? Leave a comment with your ideas!
I cannot stop doodling galaxies. I think in a dusty old medical textbook it would be a symptom of something. Hysteria. Lunacy. Plain old madness. Something. I'm sure I should be doing a more constructive task. Dusting maybe...

The fashion industry is dominated by synthetic
fibres and chemical dyes. Polyester manufacturing is an energy-intensive process, requiring large amounts of water and producing high levels of greenhouse gas emissions, while wastewater emitted from its processing contain volatile substances that can pose a threat to the health of humans, plants and animals…
• Our 2021 found that only a quarter of major brands publish time-bound, measurable targets on reducing the use of textiles deriving from virgin fossil fuels.
• More than 15,000 chemicals can be used during the textile manufacturing process, from the raw materials through to dyeing and finishing, our research found that only 30% of brands disclose their commitment to eliminating the use of hazardous chemicals from our clothes.
• Although textiles are the largest source of both primary and secondary microplastics, with around 700,000 microfibres being released in every wash cycle, just 21% of
brands explain what they are doing to minimise the shedding of microfibres.
This is why we're encouraging visitors to our garden to think about the plants that they may (or may not) be wearing and ask brands ?

A vegvísir - Icelandic for 'sign post, wayfinder', is a magical stave or ‘galdrastafir’ intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. A compass for orientation in time and space and an amulet to keep you grounded.
Runes (outside circle) are an ancient practice used by those seeking advice. They have a long history, dating back to ancient Germanic and Nordic tribes. Rune readings can be used as a meditation aid; to help guide you through thoughts, problems or issues. They’re not a form of divination or fortune-telling and don’t offer exact answers - rather they offer different variables and help you to speak with your subconscious to gain insight.
Embroideries, DIY embroidery kits and downloadable printed PDF patterns will be available on the website launching soon*.

Repost 💖
Welcome to another iteration of our
Definitions Series, a collaboration with where we unlock the key concepts of a fashion industry that values people and planet. Today, Zainab Mahmood (.slow.fashion) fashion editor at and contributor unpacks a keyword... RESALE ✨
"The act of selling an item again. In fashion, resale extends the life of neglected clothing, shoes and accessories in efforts to reduce waste and build a circular economy."
"The growth of the fashion resale market, which enables consumers to save garments and accessories from ending up in landfill, has been enabled by increasing awareness surrounding textile waste, high-emission production processes and labour exploitation. Beyond closing the loop, resale allows fashion-lovers to acquire pieces they couldn't otherwise access or afford to buy new.
According to research conducted by ThredUp in 2018, the Secondhand apparel market is expected to double in size over the next 5 years. A study commissioned by Farfetch in 2019 also found that 40% secondhand sales are now taking place online. The same study also looked into displacement rates (Does the purchase of a pre-owned fashion item replace the purchase of a new item, therefore reducing the demand for new products?). It estimated that 57% of pre-owned fashion purchases prevent the purchase of something new.
Food for thought.

I recently took up hand embroidery as an active meditation. Slowly placing each stitch with love and intention, allowing my thoughts to clear, it’s great for releasing tension and anxiety. The design came from a doodle I made whilst I thinking on the magicks of our pu$$y portals and the madonna/whóre complex society pushes onto us. Life, death, $ex and magick! We encompass it all. There’s a subversive fun in taking the age old skill of embroidery and doodling naughty things.
Embroidery is a great hobby to keep idle thumbs and minds occupied. I’m thinking to turn these into starter kits. With everything you need to get sitchy and creative; print, materials, instructions and encouragement! I’ll also be uploading the originals im the shop update soon.
Praise be the pu$$y power! 🙏

Back from a snooze pause and hibernation through the pandemic. The last year really threw all our plans into the air and dimmed life’s sparkle. I hope you all managed to find your way through.
A festival shizzle bizness without any festivals and events is like a bear clapping in the woods. Or whatever the quote may be. I’ve been slowly working away on numerous projects and I’m excited to share with you all.
Tentatively it feels like we may be emerging through the other side. I see dusty dancefloors, hugs and sunshine at the end of the tunnel.
After a year in sweatpants I’m so ready for all the costumes, hats, festival fits, sparkles and glitter. Let’s wear it ALL and really get the roaring 20’s going! Hugs and love to you all! Can’t wait to see you at left side speaker!
Sneak peak of Mimi Major hat, 60’s floral co-ord and thrifted lilac sheepskin floof. Drops in the shop coming soon…
