Baby gagging on lumpy or solid foods? Here are 4 SIMPLE TIPS TO HELP! ๐Ÿค Be sure to follow @chikidsfeeding for baby, toddler, and school-age mealtime tips & support. ๐Ÿ’œ

Three PRO TIPS to help your baby or toddler learn to drink from an open cup from @chikidsfeeding ๐Ÿค Is your baby or toddler: โœ”๏ธcoughing โœ”๏ธ spitting โœ”๏ธ pouring โœ”๏ธ spilling โœ”๏ธ dropping every time you pull out an open cup to practice? Donโ€™t worry, you are not alone! This is really common, and there are simple tips to help. TRY THIS: 1๏ธโƒฃ Practice with a thicker liquid. Try yogurt, a smoothie, or purรฉe with a little water. Thicker liquid sticks together better and will be easier for baby to control. With this, youโ€™ll likely see less coughing or spitting out the front of babyโ€™s mouth. 2๏ธโƒฃ Fill the liquid to the top of the cup. I know you worry baby will be more likely to spill, but when baby gets a taste right away, he/she will be less likely to bite the cup or play. 3๏ธโƒฃ Use a tiny cup that is easy for baby to hold. I LOVE both this @eztotz My First Cup & the @ezpzfun Tiny Cup for so many reasons: ๐Ÿค theyโ€™re tiny (3 oz)-perfect for learning ๐Ÿค soft silicone-safe material, comfortable for hands, soft on babyโ€™s mouth ๐Ÿค shaped to make learning easier ๐Ÿค heavier at the base so difficult to spill, top, or drop

Did you know that babies as early as 6 months of age should ideally be introduced to an open cup? And yes...this means...skipping the sippy cup altogether! Babies really don't need a lot of water! Around 1-3 oz/day at 6 months of age is enough, but having some to wash down food, prevent constipation and to support healthy cheek, tongue, jaw, lip and swallowing development! What to look for in an open cup for babies:โ € โœ”๏ธ Soft rim so itโ€™s easy on their teeth โœ”๏ธ Made of 100% silicone - no fillers! โœ”๏ธ Small size for little hands!โ € ...and thatโ€™s really it! The @eztotz My First Cup (made in the US!) meets this criteria and more. It holds exactly 3 oz of water so you know how much you've given your baby, and it even has a wide weighted base that prevents excessive tipping of the cup and mess and it has ridges all along the side to help baby grip onto the cup easier! When teaching baby to drink from an open cup - remember - modelling is key! Make those big "AHH" sounds for silliness and to teach them what to do! ๐Ÿ“ + ๐Ÿ“ท: @mylittleeater

Have you started offering an open cup?โ ๐Ÿฅคโฃ โ โฃ Around 6 months you can start offering baby sips of water (only 1-2 ounces with meals) or breastmilk/formula!โ โฃ Offering an open cup at this age can help develop important oral muscles needed for drinking, and it helps them learn a lifelong skill!โ โฃ โ โฃ In the video you can see she gets excited when she sees the cup, lunges forward and bumps her lip on the cup...โ โฃ โ โฃ This is one of the many reasons why I love these cups! โ โฃ ๐ŸŒตThey are soft on baby's lips and won't hurt baby if they get excited by moving too quickly to drink. Or if you bring the cup too quickly to their lips. โ โฃ ๐ŸŒตThey have ridges so they are easy for a busy parent to hold onto one-handed and also easy for baby to learn to gripโ โฃ ๐ŸŒตThey are a small size that is the perfect amount for not too much liquid (and mess ๐Ÿคฃ).โ โฃ ๐ŸŒตThey are 100% silicone without fillers and made in the US. โ โฃ #eztotzpartnerโฃ โฃ Thank you @danielle.morrical for sharing your adorable little one ๐Ÿ’šโ .โฃ ๐Ÿ“ท + ๐Ÿ“: @kids.nutritionist
