Norfolk Paint Parties
At 13 I received my first painting commission, the first of well over 100 sold. I later began teaching mid 2023 after which Norfolk Paint Parties was born 🧑🎨🎨
Post art college, I exhibited and worked as a freelance illustrator/graphic designer.
Please note, tickets for “Hetti the Highland Cow” are now sold out for the 16th December at the Hop Rooms Elgoods Brewery 👩🎨🎨
Thank you for your enquiries, but unfortunately 28 is the maximum number of guests for each event shown.
However!…. Due to popularity Hetti will make another appearance in 2025 🐮
The venue will be decided in the new year.
Alternatively if you wish to host your own paint party, depending on location, the minimum number is 10 guests.
Please see my website for more details at norfolkpaintparties.co.uk or message me.
Thank you.
Dates now released for three new events.

NEW…. “Doorways to Holidays”
The inspiration from this was taken from two photographs I’d taken from different destinations. Croatia and Spain.
Bougainvillea always being my flower reminiscent of holidays and happy days 🌺✈️🏝️🍷☺️
Dates for all new paint parties released later today.
NEW… “What a Beeeauty” 🐝 🐝 🐝
Date released in a few days.
And “YES YOU CAN DO THIS” 👩🎨🎨
I snapped 📸this beauty in my extended garden (aka field) a couple of years ago.
Many times I’ve given a spoon of sugar water when they’ve landed on my lawn and have been too exhausted to move.
As with some paintings at events.
When a subject is more complex I add small key points marked on the canvas to act as a guide, basically no different to how most artists paint whether beginners or professionals.
They save both a great deal of time and also ensure everything is proportionate and in the right place. The rest is up to your poetic licence 😉👌
A little Bio….
I often get asked what I’ve painted over the years regarding both subject material and my media of choice etc.
So in answer I’ve fished a few photographs out from my old album.
Please bear in mind that most of these photographs were taken with my old 35mm camera between 30-43 years ago.
So they’re a bit blurry. Just like my vision is now minus my goggles! 🤓😁
The paintings are just a few of the commissions sold, but I did many different dog breeds, horses and cats, even a prize budgie which was my first commission aged 13.
So in secondary school my new found wealth gave way to many purchases. Predominantly clothes! with every colour conceivable of Bermuda shorts and pedal pushers (I’m really showing my age here 😆) I had quite an enviable wardrobe.
I started painting commissions in oils, this was my medium of choice but I also used water colour, Indian ink, charcoal and gouache.
I only recently began using acrylics as they are so versatile.
(Unless otherwise stated acrylics are used at all paint party events).
I held my first solo art exhibition in Wisbech when I was in my early 20’s. Most exhibitions were held in the museum at that time but I wanted a brighter more upbeat venue, so I approached McCreadys bar next to the Angles Theatre. It was also their first time exhibiting artwork. A crate of wine on the opening day ensured things flowed sweet as a nut 😊🥂🍷
All were sold either at the exhibition or afterwards apart from two that I kept for myself.
Later as a single mum with a young child I took a huge gamble and went back to college, this time to train as a therapist with a view of setting up an additional business to subsidise the freelance graphic design work and painting commissions.
As the therapy side got busier I struggled to amalgamate the two businesses battling with keeping appointments against extremely tight deadlines I had to meet that were forever present with graphic design.
It was then I made the decision to focus on being a therapist and expanding that side of my business, the work being much less sporadic which was essential as a single mum with a mortgage and bills to pay.
Eventually my artwork was a distant memory.
However the desire to dust down my brushes was forever present.
Then Covid struck.
I was able to return to work after the first three months of Covid.
But during the three months that I had off I had an absolute ball.
Being a workaholic for years I was so excited to have time off (when I wasn’t going on holiday that is 🫣).
One online open learning course and a pesto production line selling 10 different varieties later. I decided to dust down my brushes and set about creating an online photography competition on Facebook as I wanted to do something different to lift everyone’s spirits.
Plus my muffin tops were expanding sampling all the pestos during the making so I needed a change 😬
I advertised this across all the regional FB pages for people to post no more than three of their favourite photographs they’d taken that had a real big feel good factor, and once the deadline came one would be selected that I would paint from a shortlist and this would then be auctioned to raise money for the maternity bereavement suite at QE hospital Kings Lynn.
A cause very close to my heart.
After a massive response and hundreds upon hundreds of photograph submissions later the winning photo was randomly selected (Hunstanton lighthouse. Shown below.)
Although being a bit rusty not having painted for years I completed the painting in just over 300 hours. My own choice as it was fabulous just to take my time. Even the larger poppys consisted of 12 different colours. I loved every minute of it.
After this I painted and sold a local scene taken from a photograph using an ultra violet filter which created an overall blue and white effect. (Shown below).
After three months I went back to work and the painting stopped 😢
But a dear friend of mine Sarah Horsley, who knew I missed painting so much, unwittingly paved the way for me to set up business on my own.
And so Norfolk Paint Parties came to fruition and I absolutely love it and haven’t looked back for a single second since! 🥰👩🎨🎨
Having fun with people that have often never put brush to canvas and starting to learn a new (often addictive) skill in the process, gives me such a buzz, especially seeing the realisation on peoples faces that they just created their own amazing piece of art… Priceless 👌
Thank you x
