Drugs have been part of our culture since the middle of the last century. Popularised in the 1960s by music and mass media,they invade all aspects of society.
An estimated 208 million people international consume illegal drugs. In South Africa, results from the 2006 World Drug Report showed that 4.3 million South African (or 10.3 percent of the population aged 16 or older) used illegal drugs in the year prior to the report.
