I guess I lost way more than 120 lbs. I lost the husband who only wanted the girl he could control. She melted away a long time ago. Friends- I need your support. This is the room that almost broke me. After working incredibly hard to get accepted into a PhD program I learned I was suddenly expecting a child at 42 after decades of infertility. I could not understand God/Source’s timing. Why now? In this room I learned I was losing that precious baby after I radically accepted that this was my journey. Sometimes the storms that come to break you clear the way for something better. I miss you, Baby Robin, but I know that your short time with me served a purpose. I choose to believe there is purpose in the pain.

I walked off my trauma. I started with Somatic Experiencing therapy to address the trauma locked into my body. I learned that you did not have to retell your trauma stories to heal your body. Instead you could be taught to titrate the trauma allowing your body to gently touch and release. I smile now. I meditate and move my body every.single.day. I improved every aspect of my health. I know it isn’t easy to begin. You may not feel “ready” but do it anyways. Start with 5 minutes every single day for a week and build on that momentum.

To those that have asked, yes, the book is still being written. The last few months added some very interesting chapters. Keep going, friends. I cannot wait for YOU to meet the healed you. ❤️💪

How to override your Nervous System: these will look really familiar to anyone who follows this page as I do each of the 7 things daily. Which of these hacks to YOU use?

1. Sing it out (music is therapy!!!)
2. Learn massage techniques (hand, scalp, foot massage, brush hair)
3. Exercise outdoors (vit D, sunlight, nature heals)
4. Laugh out loud (social media, tiktok, jokes with friends, memes)
5. Look after your gut: (linked to heart and brain, take probiotic, limit spicy foods and caffeine)
6. Breathe through it (meditation, breathwork, and mindfulness)
7. Take a cold shower (cold immersion therapy (ICE) frosty morning walks)

You are loved: I painted this rock for a fellow Start Today Community member who despite us never meeting IN person had been a constant support in my life. So many of the members of that group have been. The dress pictured is significant. It was my favorite for decades. I am passing it on to a dear friend today. I found out I was pregnancy in that dress. I learned I was team pink with Madeline in that dress. Met a 2-11 Mommies (my first community I ever created) birth board community member in that dress (Waves to Stef!) but it is time to say goodbye. 120 pounds are gone from my body. That is more than my son and daughter weigh together. Here’s to new beginnings. Remember- you, too, are loved ❤️

A dear friend bought me this journal for my birthday. Anyone who knows me well understands my love-hate relationship with the term, resilient. My McNair undergraduate thesis WAY back in 1999 focused on the topic of resiliency and spirituality. Resilient has become a trendy watered down term and lost its power. Resilience is so much more than bouncing back after adversity. Why does one person thrive in a challenging environment while someone similar barely keeps their head above water? Are you born with this super power or can it be taught? I used to think I knew the answers to those questions but these last few months have taught me to always be growing, exploring, questioning. ✨

My friends and family know me well. Flowers, coffee, and books are a few of my favorite things. The handmade rose bookmark was from my daughter. The bouquet bookmark was from a Start Today community friend and the coffee is thanks to a friend I met in another online community a decade ago called, For Little Eyes: parents of children with eye conditions and glasses. Community is the common thread in my life. As the cup sticker says friends, “Be a KIND Kinda Person!” I promise Kindness always boomerangs back towards you. ❤️✨🙏

Today’s walk I encountered this beautiful Japanese Lilac tree. I have used these blooms in my wreaths and floral arrangements without knowing what they were. I love the autumn feel they give such a typical spring/summer flower. What did you see on your walk today?
