Oupa Giellie is one of those people who will engage anyone. Sometimes it turns into more than just a hello. Eugene can attest to that. We're looking forward to the opening of Morchella's&More 's mushroom picking farm at The Old Wood Shop. A must visit experience for young and old.
Today Oupa Gielie walked down his office staircase for the very last time, as we started to breakdown the last bit of the old office in The Old Wood Shop. The steps were never built at regulation height. When confronted by this fact his answer was always the same, "Well it was the only wood I had available at the time." We would like to re-use the same staircase in the renovations, any suggestions?
Oupa Gielie was part of the first aluminum installation in South Africa when he was working at Michael's Shopfitters, the Naspers building in Cape Town as their project. The passion for the job still running in his blood and when it came down to who will be doing the aluminum for The Old Wood Shop was his answer promptly, "I will." This is the first of 6 massive shop windows that had to be made. Not too bad for a 80-year old man , or what do you think?

What do you think about our design? It was a family effort, and I have to thank my Sister Elmari for helping me. Drawings and inputs was also done by Karisia. The mood boards became drawings, and drawings a new life to The Old Wood Shop.
Today Oupa Gielie helped with the first post of the new mezzanine offices. Nicolas had to build in a window twice. The last window was cut in. Enoch moved sand. Hamann is actually a welder and the parking area is coming along nicely.

Oupa Gielie finalizing his windows. Jackson is starting with a new batch concrete. Rasta is still busy with the windows. I got to cut some wood. Hamann installed his door. And we started with the outside walls.

Oupa Gielie is recycling some old windows for our new bathrooms. Hamann is painting his handiwork. And Simond passes plastering cement to Granville for exterior patch ups.
