Genre: Extreme Hardcore/Crust Punk
As one of the eight (yes, eight) bands who supported Na**lm Death for their headline show in Leeds on Saturday, Belk are already no strangers to mingling with the best names in the business. Despite this, Belk are still relatively new to the scene but are obviously eager to prove their worth. Hopefully this brief demo release will allow the up and coming three piece to do just that.
'Question of Stress' is the first of two songs featured and wastes little time in blowing you away. Even though this compact, explosive tracks fails to hit the 90 second mark, it easily demonstrates the conviction, aggression and uncaged adrenaline of Belk.
Even shorter than its predecessor, 'Net' is an unruly, uncomfortable and cynical sounding Extreme Hardcore track. Hints of Black Metal arise from the gnarly vocals and bombarding guitar play throughout this gruesome song.
Overall, this is a confident and inspiring release from a group who clearly have much to offer the British Hardcore scene. Hopefully Belk can use this as a stepping stone for other formidable tracks in the future.
