Today’s customers, don’t worry I have spare 😬

On Monday 15th May its the start of mental health awareness week. Now as some of you may know I have suffered with my mental health since I was 15 years old, anxiety, depression and GAD (generalised anxiety disorder) for those of you unsure what that means in a nutshell I could be driving down a road or sat watching a film and I get the same symptoms you get entering a crowded place or going to a job interview, tight chest, restlessness, nausea etc.

Fortunately I have immense support from my Mrs, family and friends which allows me to be functional in my day to day life. It’s not easy, some days are tougher than others, it’s difficult for me to make a change in my day especially spontaneously but I get through it. Daily I worry about a situation I could potentially get in in the future that is out of my comfort zone. If I have to do something or go somewhere out of my comfort zone I find any excuse possible to avoid it like the plague. This is not a great way to live, you feel like peoples opinion changes of you and you miss out or don’t fully enjoy the great things in life.

The consequence of that life brings the dreaded depression… you start thinking of negative possibilities, am I gonna lose my partner? Are my kids going to grow up living this way from learnt behaviour, am I going to lose the friend that I keep cancelling on? Then comes your behaviour and attitude in result of these thoughts. Mood swings, self sabotage, lack of self care, lack of personal hygiene, trouble sleeping, trouble waking up, trouble eating or over eating. Eating the wrong things, which studies show an unhealthy diet can contribute to bad mental heath.

Then because of how you’ve behaved you start worrying again about how that’s effected other people you feel a burden, the build up of unpaid bills, the housework, the phone calls you need to make, the time you’ve wasted. It’s one big vicious circle.

That all being said there is a time that all that goes away for me, a place I’m most confident where I’m able to talk to others going through the same/similar thing and that is when I have a pair of scissors and comb in my hands. So if any of my customers that have anything they want to talk to me about I’m in your home for 20-30 mins please talk. I’m a big believer in the best people to talk to about mental health are those that suffer too and I’d really like to help.

It’s ok to not be ok. 💚

Following my last post based on closing earlier, due to the high demand for late afternoon/mid evening slots, I have decided for the time being to no longer take NEW customers after 3pm. I’ve made this decision due to only just having space for customers who have rebooked with me for 1-2 years.

Understandably that time period suits most people best, due to work/school etc but I can only fit so many in on an evening and it wouldn’t be fair let down loyal customers. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Attention customers! As of Monday 17th April I will no longer be taking customers after 7pm. As most of you know I’m usually still cutting until about 9pm every night! Unless I get a cancellation. Whilst I do not regret working late for 2 years, it has got me where I am in this business which I appreciate so much 🙏🏻 but family will always be first 💙 I miss seeing my kids after school, I miss having tea with my family every night, I miss spending time with the kids before bed time. But most of all I’m just not getting enough time on FIFA! ⚽️😝

Alternatively I will have slots available on every other Saturday until 7pm for those that can’t get in during the week.

I will also be shortening time slots where possible and therefore when booking appointments I will now be giving an approximate time rather than a set time for your appointment.

As always I appreciate all of you who support my business 🙏🏻 and thank you for the time you’ve taken to read my post. 💙

A nice high blend tapered down to a 0.5 is just what the lad needs, nice and short from the crown forward. With a bit of retained length at the front so he can still be looking professional for meetings etc. 👌🏻💈

Haydn has been a customer of mine since it all began 🤜🏻🤛🏻 After always sticking with the same style, this time he decided on a buzz cut which I love doing especially when I get to line it up and show off my precision 😜

Due to his autism little Noah would only let me trim his hair with scissors when I started cutting his hair at home. Absolutely terrified of the clippers. A year and a half on and he lets me use clippers to taper his back and sides down to a #3 well done Noah looking dapper 😎👏 Bridie Clarke

After careful consideration as we approach a new tax year, I have decided that due to the increase in fuel prices etc and fuel being my main business expense. I will be increasing my prices by £1.50

e.g. Standard gents cut at £8.50 will be £10.00
Kids cut at £6.50 will be £8.00
Any extras e.g. skin fade, beard trims etc will also include an additional £1.50.

This increase will come into effect on Monday 14th March. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Massive shout out to Untitled barbershop which is situated above liberty health club in Richmond. They decided to have a charity day at the barbershop cutting hair for 15 hours. They raised around £2000 and went and bought gifts to donate to us. We have used these in our free toy shop where we have invited parents to come along and choose gifts for their children.

We are so overwhelmed by this generosity and want to thank them so much this will make a difference to so many families at this time of year!

Those that know me know that i am completely useless at remembering birthdays. So bad that I even forgot on the 2nd December it was L T Mobile Barbering’s birthday!!! 💈🥳💈🥳💈🥳

This year has been an absolute blast!!! My customer numbers have increased massively, I’ve met some amazing people I now consider as friends forever, every single one of my customers make me feel so so welcome in their home, even children! For some of my mini customers unfortunately a haircut can be very challenging for them. Whether they have sensory issues, autism or adhd… and all other children. Some haircuts are harder than others for them but we get there once they let their guard down and put trust in me. 🙂 (obviously nothing to do with the lolly that follows 🤔🤣) They are the ones that make me love this business the most. So thank you mini customers! 💪🏻

For everyone else that support my business from the bottom of my heart thank you so much 🙏🏻

Being a self employed mobile barber as enjoyable as it is, it also means making sacrifices at home. Some days I’m not home until 9pm! And when I am home I’m on my phone sending out reminders, taking appointments, dealing with income and expenses etc. And Lauren and the kids are so understanding of it and I can’t thank them enough. I’m looking forward to a nice long Christmas break with you all 🎄🎅🏻🍻

🍭💈After huge peer pressure from all my mini customers 🥴 I’ve decided to turn up more equipped! As the tradition goes, after a haircut in a barbershop providing you sit nicely, you are always rewarded with a lolly! And I keep getting told off by kids that I come without lollies! 🙈

So I’ve finally been out and bought some, so from now on after a haircut with the permission from parents, you will get a lolly. 🍭💈
