Also, PhantomAddicted needs volunteers. Please sign up to become a volunteer to answer chats. You only need your cell phone. You could make the difference in someone’s day. There are lots of addicts that need someone to talk to. They are scared to pick up the phone. Or they don’t have numbers. Either way PhantomAddicted alleviates the fear. Totally anonymous on both ends.

If you are an addict in recovery or a sobriety coach, please go to PhantomAddicted.com and sign up to become a volunteer. The only thing you need is your cell phone and the desire to help another addict. Go to volunteer sign up and follow prompts. You will recieve an email. You will then Dload the GoSquared chat app. This will take you directly into the Phantom Addicted chatline.
You are then ready to answer chats. Please turn on notifications/GoSquared app. When you see a chat alert, it is then your choice to answer the chat or not.

It has been a long hard road in creating Phantom Addicted. Only through believing in the need for this, have we persevered and strived hard to bring this new and exciting service to people all over the world.
You see, as addicts who suffer from the disease of addiction. One of the character traits of this disease is Loneliness. Often times WE FEEL ALONE and we need that interaction of one addict to another. I was alone in my house feeling that loneliness to the core of my being. Every fiber in my body was crying out for someone to just tell me it was going to be ok. That this too will pass. Its gonna be ok. You'd think that there would be a good handful of people who would be around to give consolement. Well, I tried calling different people. I got a few different responses. One person was in the middle of work. One person didn't answer. Another one told me he'd get back to me. But! in the meantime I'm sitting on the floor crying with my hands over my face, saying,”Im dying inside and I feel like nobody gives a sh*t” Please god, put someone in my life that will just listen and hopefully give me those few words of consolement that will enable me to make it through the rest of the day. This would help me to feel better and make the right choices to follow. I realized that people in despair with nobody to speak to, can make the wrong choices based on their own twisted warped thinking. Nobody to redirect them. In Turn, making the wrong choice can lead them down a totally diferent path, than if they had had some good guidance and support. Even if just for a few minutes someone cared enough to talk to them at the time they were in pain. Their life can take a totally new course for that day and hopefully bring them some inner contentment and happiness.
During this emotional rollercoaster ride I was on, I decided to look on the internet for someone to talk to. Talking to myself, Im saying” their must be some sort of chatline I can go on and connect with someone who knows what im going through.” I scoured the internet. I got lots of 1800 numbers and lots of people telling me to call this number and that number. Go to the ER ect. What about now! This moment when im dying inside ! Not a week from now to see a therapist! It was at this point that the light went off in my head. Their needs to be a chatline created for people that have the disease of addciton. To be able to go on at any time of the day or night and connect immediately with another addict. To be able to chat with them about whatever it is they're feeling at that time. It could be that you want to get high or maybe you are just having a hard day at work and you wanna quit your job. It could be anything. As addicts we have a problem with LIFE. We don't deal with life on life terms like normal people. There are many times in the day we just need someone to talk to, check in with , so we can hear the words,” Its gonna be alright “. Sometimes that's all we need to continue on with our day and have happiness until we rest our heads on the pillow. The importance of One Addict talking to another is proven to be one of the most effective forms of therapy for people who have the disease of addiction.
There is also the very important flip side to the coin. The loved ones of addicts that are just as sick and suffer just as much as the person actually doing the drugs
What about the mother or father who is dying inside because their son or daughter is out on the street shooting he**in or smoking crack and they don't know what to do. They're to scared to talk to anyone about it. For various reasons. Maybe they a scared of being judged or maybe they don't feel safe telling someone. For they are in fear that the person may tell someone else. There are many different forms of fear that hold us back from reaching out and speaking to someone.
Maybe you are a high school student in the beginning stages of addiction, or you have a parent at home who is getting high. You are dying inside with pain either way. Being too scared to reach out for help, THE PAIN ONLY GROWS!
We at phantom Addicted unite together with a strong force of volunteers that have walked the path. We understand the pain of active addiction and also the pain at certain times, of living sober and being in pain. We all know who suffer with this disease, that this beast centers in the mind not the bottle or the needle. Its a mental illness that lives inside our minds everyday.
