Researchers from Spain reporting at a European coronavirus conference found that hospitalized COVID-19 patients with low blood levels of zinc tended to fare worse than those with healthier levels.
It has long been thought that zinc bolsters the immune system," said pulmonologist Dr. Len Horovitz, of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. A possible explanation in this study is that zinc may have an anti-inflammatory effect that is protective.
Zinc is also required for numerous processes in your body and few of those are :
- Gene expression
- Enzymatic reactions ( Zinc is necessary for the activity of over 300 enzymes that aid in metabolism, digestion, nerve function and many other processes)
- Immune function
- Protein synthesis
- DNA synthesis
- Wound healing
- Growth and development

Foods highest in zinc are as follows and as humans we must not take supplements, rather compliment the need of our tissues naturally through intake of these foods only:

- Legumes: Chickpeas, lentils, black beans, kidney beans, etc. (Legumes contain high amounts of zinc. However, they also contain phytates, which reduce its absorption. Processing methods like heating, sprouting, soaking or fermenting can help improve its bioavailability)

- Nuts and seeds: Pumpkin Seeds, Cashews, Peanuts, Almonds, Sesame seeds etc.

- Dairy products: Milk, yogurt and cheese (source has to be cow milk for safe health benefits and also fat free as well)

- Eggs (One large egg contains 5% of the DV for zinc, as well as a host of other nutrients, including protein, healthy fats, B vitamins, selenium and choline)

- Whole grains: Oats, Quinoa, Brown rice

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin well known for its role in supporting a healthy immune system. Because your body cannot make or store vitamin C, it must come from the foods you eat every day.

Research shows vitamin C is essential for the growth and repair of tissue all over the body. Vitamin C helps heal wounds and repair and maintain healthy bones, teeth, skin and cartilage — a type of firm tissue that covers the bones. As an antioxidant, vitamin C fights free radicals in the body which may help prevent or delay certain cancers and heart disease, and promote healthy aging.
Vitamin C levels also tend to decline when a person is unwell, even though the immune system’s need for this vitamin increases. Some doctors believe that taking vitamin C supplements can help prevent this depletion, thereby supporting the immune system.
The daily requirement of Vitamin C is 90mg in adult males, 75mg for females which increases to 120 mg during pregnancy.
But nowadays no one have to time to take care of their health that much so supplements can be taken in form of tablet or gummies.
PS- natural food sources are always better than supplements as they're utilised better in the body.
There is no significant study that vitC will protect you from COVID-19 for sure. But it can help you boost your immunity a little but prevention is better than cure so keep yourself safe and don't trust Anything 100%

During this lockdown the thing for which we crave the most is ICE CREAM
I scream you scream we all scream ice cream.
Here is Recipe for Dairy Free Sugar free ice-cream.
Ingredients
Bananas - 4
Peanut butter - 1 TBSP
Coco powder - 1 TBSP
YOU CAN REPLACE PEANUT BUTTER WITH YOUR CHOICE OF INGREDIENT
Steps
1. Peel the bananas and freeze them overnight.
2. When preparing Thaw them for 15 minutes( keep them out of refrigerator for 15 minutes)
3. cut the banana into small pieces and in food blender mix all the ingredients.
4. Freeze them again for some hours.
5. ENJOY WHAT ELSE
