Things I’m very good at... being an entrepreneur.

Things I’m not so good at (but sorting it out)... balancing work and wellness.

So here’s the thing, I’m going to be straight up, I’m the most unhealthy I’ve been in my entire life. And this makes me unhappy. It’s hard to admit both these things but it’s the truth. And for the past year and a half I’ve hustled harder than I ever had and it didn’t bring me the joy I’m used to creating in my life. A big part of it came from constantly having to learn something new, balancing so many unexpected parts of owning a brick and mortar business, and working so hard and so much that I put my well-being on hold. And you know what’s harder than being healthy....? Trying to heal from all the unhealthy choices and the consequences of them.

Before I started Hello Bonjour I would always make time for healthy meals, hydration, outdoor adventures and fitness... but the reality of the food business is that it’s ... seriously fkn hard. Much harder than I ever could have imagined. And my ability to grow it in to the successful business that it is already meant that I had to make some sacrifices. If I could go back to the beginning I definitely would have eased into it, sought out more help and direction and would not have put myself on the back burner.

I wanted to share this for a few reasons...

1. to inspire other entrepreneurs to check in with their well-being (are you taking good care of yourself???)

2. to inform you that I’ll be making some changes in the business and our offerings

3. to let anyone know that if they too are struggling with feeling generally unhealthy (tired, moody, achy, stressed, unfit, etc) they can join me (no costs, just inspiration) while I focus on some healthy commitments that I used to do daily to keep my health at its best. Might be fun, Might be a total flop. 🤷‍♀️

This is me. And my business is a reflection of me... so here we go again!

Thank you everyone for an incredible 2021. ❤️ It was our first full year in business and we couldn’t have done it without our awesome team and our fabulous customers!

December truly tested our business and our ability to spring back and instead we ended up with a gentle reminder of what we, Nyden and Amanda, truly want in our daily life.

We are closing for the month of January (and possibly even longer...) as we focus on our own health, dedicate uninterrupted time to each other and offer quality care to our families.

Such as any new business owners, we have prioritized our business and our commitment to our customers and community every day since we’ve opened and we’ve made the rookie mistake of not taking enough time to care for ourselves. Health has always been a priority in our business from the ingredient choices, the menu options and even our packaging, it’s a top focus in my teachings and up until these past 2 years, it was always a top priority in my own life too... so I’m taking a break to honour the importance of taking care of myself. Rediscovering positive daily routines and finding the simple joy that sitting down to a full meal that I’ve prepared can bring.

Thank you for your understanding and patience and we look forward to whatever it is that 2022 brings our way 🤞😘
