I remember growing up and going to visit friends and family back home in Zimbabwe. When ever we walked into the lounge the cushions were always invariably part of the early conversations. Cushions were not just cushions, they had their own little status in the lounge, whether they were big and loud or small and intricate. You always noticed them. Very rarely did you walk in "plonk" yourself on the sofa and casually remove them were you were sitting. Unless of course you wanted to have a different conversation!

On a personal note for me, having lived in Scotland for nearly the same amount of time I did back home in Zimbabwe, does that then mean I am Scottish or still Zimbabwean, does that ever change? Does where you spend your life define who you are or is it your roots so to speak, that do? I had a conversation with a friend the other day and they said, a lion in a zoo or a lion in the wild is still a Lion. Hmmm.....! At this point my Jury is still out.
