A bea“ewe”tiful day to be born! A healthy pair of ewe lambs, 100% St. Croix. These babies would be lovely additions to any farm. Message me to discuss.
Newest member of the flock. Ram, St. Croix/Dorper cross. Fast to find his legs and already nibbling mom’s alfalfa! He needed a little assistance entering the world but all is well.
Sheep operation got a major upgrade today, thanks to my hubby and neighbor, Gary. New lambing jugs, to pen ewes and lambs after birth. There are 2 pens, 5’x5’, and come apart easily for storage when done for the year. He also made a little portal on one side so we can open it up to use as a creep feeder for the babies. This is going to make lambing and raising newborns so much easier!! I am so thankful!!
I see discussions periodically about crossing St. Croix with white Dorpers. I have two black headed Dorper ewes I breed to a St. Croix ram. Last year, we kept a ewe lamb from this cross, she is 50% St. Croix/50% black headed Dorper. She is varied pattern of black and white. We bred her at 9 months old to a St. Croix ram, and she just gave us a nice set of twins. I was surprised that they are all white. I expected some black since they are only 75% St. Croix.
We do really like the faster growth that the 50/50 crosses demonstrate so far. It’s been a fun experiment.

This was the FIRST time....🐑 Come along as we recap the 2020 lambing season. This was our first-year breeding sheep on our property, and all of the ewes were first time moms.
This year’s grow out rams are doing well. Two 100% St. Croix ram twins (on the left), one Dorper St. Croix 50/50 cross, and the one on the right is 100% Dorper. The 100% dorper is about 6 weeks younger than the rest of the group.
