Have been spending a fun afternoon brushing up a classic Clapton version of 'Sweet Home Chicago' as I have to learn a few new songs for the band 'Junk Male' who have asked me to play lead guitar for. I always enjoy playing live as working with other musicians is a great way to learn and brush up your 'chops'.

It's that time of year after all the festivities are over and we are all trying to get back into the swing of this new decade. So I have been working on the classical piece 'Andante in C' (more popularly known as 'Theme from Tales of the Riverbank' for those of a certain age). It's not all rock n roll here in Croscombe!
It's really satisfying to learn something new and really nail it. That's why structured lessons that build a solid foundation to your technique and understanding really help. There are no 'easy fixes', but with professional lessons you will see your playing coming on in leaps and bounds. Whatever your level give Steve Watson Guitar Tuition a call (or tell someone you know who might be interested).

Getting ready for the New Year celebrations and sorting out student lesson plans, so what better time to spin some vinyl. Record of choice is the 1972 release of 'Ziggy Stardust' (for the nerds first pressing - no Main man logo!!). This is the record that introduced me to the amazing music of David Bowie, and more importantly his guitarist/arranger Mick Ronson. The main reason I wanted to play the guitar. Still love his playing, and so glad I got to see him with Ian Hunter before he passed on to the great gig in the sky.
What records (Cd's and downloads allowed grudgingly ) are your favourite go to, and why?
Just got round to hanging up this giant silk screen print Elaine gave me for my birthday! Many thanks to local artist Shelley Dyer-Gibbins at shelleydyergibbinsart.com for such a fantastic print. May the spirit of Jimi inspire both me and the students to greater heights.
Thank you for all the likes and best wishes for a rockin' New Year🤘🎸
If your New Year’s Resolution is to finally learn to play that guitar that’s been sitting in the corner of the room for the last couple of years, or you have a child that was given one for Christmas and thinks they sound as good as Ed Sheeran (but doesn’t), or you think you’re too old to Swing like a Sultan then do yourself a favour and book some lessons with Steve Watson Guitar Tuition.
