We followed up our immersion experience with a Northwoods AHEC Scholars Retreat. Four future health profession students invested in learning more about Menominee Nation and Shawano County health career opportunities and what it would be like living in the communities.

Immersions are our favorite! Last week 10 multidisciplinary health profession students came together to engage in a team-based experiential learning program with educators and health and safety professionals. A big THANK YOU to our host partners Forest County Potawatomi Community for all the hard work, education, and space shared with our team and students. There was so much to learn, good relationships built, stories shared, and great food enjoyed!

WI Northern Highland AHEC is excited to announce we're grant recipients of $5,000.00 for the continuation and expansion of an innovative rural mental health and substance use disorder simulation in northern Wisconsin communities. The simulation will bring students, educators, and health and safety professionals together to engage in in-person team-based experiential learning. This award was generously supported by a grant from the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation’s Amy Hunter Wilson, MD Fund.
