Madison, Indiana Artist As a child I loved to draw (more like doodle) for hours and play out stories on paper in a make believe world.
After a friend invited me to paint on a tiny canvas for a local fund raiser a few years ago, I realized just how much I enjoy painting. Tiant vs. Rose: 1975 World Series This framed acrylic painting is on an 18"x24" panel. This piece will be delivered to Cuckoos Roost soon. I grew up a Chicago Cubs fan in Central Illinois, but I was well aware of the Big Red Machine. Baseball cards, the Decatur Herald & Review sports page, This Week in Baseball, and Sports Illustrated were some of my windows to the world of baseball. During a neighborhood baseball or wiffle ball game, I would try to dive into bases like Pete Rose, and pump my elbow up and down like Joe Morgan. I was 10 years old in 1975 when they beat the Red Sox to become World Champions. Another player I would imitate was Luis Tiant, mainly because he had such a unique pitching motion. I had such a good time painting this image because it took me back to my 10-year-old self, and the smell of my well-oiled glove.
Teaser for a painting I will have at Cuckoos Roost Saturday morning. The name of the piece is Tiant vs. Rose: 1975 World Series.
