Archer the Warrior
This page will be used to update our little boy's prayer warriors as he goes through this fight!
We have been blessed with one of the best community and support system of friends, family, and prayer warriors around! You are such an important part of this journey that we are going through! We have met some amazing people through Archer's cancer walk. Last weekend was our fall festival in Howard! We started with a cancer prayer walk, a parade, some shopping, a nap, music, and a benefit dinner blessed Archer and our family. We were able to join the dinner and the support we saw was so amazing and meant the world to us! We had some amazing barbecue from Dr. John's BBQ out of Parsons! We were honored to meet him and all the support he has given us since the beginning! We hope to see him again soon! Archer was able to go on stage a couple different times and loved it! He was mad when he had to get off! He danced a little and loved drawing with the chalk by the library! We were happy to see everyone! We cannot thank everyone enough for all the prayers and love you have given us! Then we also got to see some of our daddy's aunts and uncle on Sunday! It was so much fun to see them and enjoy time with family. Archer gets to go on a field trip to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. We are excited to go have some fun! Archer will start preschool in a couple weeks! We are excited to see all the growth that is ahead of him! Archer is doing okay health wise. He is getting over a couple viruses and allergies right now but is in the up and up. We will go back to the doctor in a week and half for our next round of chemo.
Today is National Lymphoma Awareness Day. ๐ September is also Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. ๐๏ธI wanted to give a quick update about Archer. He has been doing amazing. He has been loving daycare and having some normalcy again. He has been amazing at taking his medicine at night. This was such a fight for so long but he is doing amazing. We are scheduled to go back to the doctor for a lumbar puncture and chemo on Monday. This will be his first time back in a couple weeks so he will be happy to see everyone at the hospital. He asks to go see Dr. Hall (I think he means the sedation/infusion unit) at least once a day. Thank everyone for the continued prayers we are so grateful for them! In honor of the Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, ๐๏ธ I included some of the pictures that we have had so far through our journey but please say a prayer for all kids and people with cancer it is a rough disease to go through. ๐๏ธ๐๐๏ธ๐
Archer has been full of surprises lately! Last Monday we went in to check counts and see if we can start our next phase. No one thought he would be ready based on past phases and he had just been released from the hospital the Thursday before. He shocked us all and made his counts and we were able to start the maintenance phase of his treatment! This will be once a month appointments with chemo and lumbar punctures and then chemo daily at home! He will also get four treatments of a chemo he did not get in the beginning because he was so sick and they changed one of the chemos mid treatment since he had been officially diagnosed with T Cell Lymphoma. Those are being administered twice a week these first two weeks of this phase! We are so thankful and very grateful for all the prayers for our little man! It definitely has been a rough road and we still have long road ahead but we are now getting a little normalcy again as mom has gone back to work and Archer started daycare again! He has loved being back with his friends and teachers! We thank god everyday for our warrior and the blessings that have been given to us! We couldn't do it without all the support from everyone that has prayed and helped us continue to navigate our journey. God has been with us through this all and we are thankful for him everyday!
Thank you everyone for all the prayers for our warrior! After 2.5 weeks in the hospital Archer is coming home! We are excited to back to our normal and see our puppies!! He has been full of energy and ready to go! We will go back on Monday to try to make counts to start our next phase!! Please continue to pray for him but we are so happy and grateful to all his doctors and nurses he is coming home!!!
Archer is a definite warrior and so strong. He has gotten lots of platelet transfusions and a couple blood transfusions this week. His platelets are still very low but trending slowly in the right direction. Hopefully this morning was our last transfusion. Only time will tell. While we were in the hospital I noticed his stomach was becoming very distended and he did not want to eat or drink anything but water. He started puking yellow bile at least once a day. When I pointed this out to the doctor it raised some red flags. Archer was also starting to be in some pain and very gassy. We got an XRay, Sonogram, and a CT scan on Tuesday. Then he was started on some antibiotics. The next day his liver enzymes came back extremely high and he had a small fever, which is never good for a child with cancer. They are slowly coming down but still very elevated. He was put on no food or water since Tuesday. He is getting hydration and nutrients through his IV. He now is on clears but is not wanting to eat or drink anything. Please continue to pray for our little man as he goes through what no child should have to endure. Please pray that he starts to want to eat and drink. He is ready to go home but his body needs to heal some more at the place he needs to be. We were suppose to get treatment on Monday but the doctor might hold off and give him some more time to heal.
Today has taken it out of our little man. His platelets are still very low. He received another transfusion early this morning and will most likely get one tomorrow morning. Archer received chemo this afternoon and is wiped. He has been sleeping since we got back to his room on the peds floor. We hope that his bone marrow kicks back into gear and starts making platelets and put this past us. He is such a strong little boy, who even during his sickest times can put a smile on all our faces and show everyone so much love! He is so resilient and will get through this phase with so much more strength! We are praying he starts to feel better soon and platelets start producing again like they are supposed to! We feel and appreciate all the thoughts and prayers and ask that you continue to pray for strength for our little one!
Update: They drew some labs overnight and his platelet level was still 4 after the transfusion and his red blood cell count took a big drop, so we are getting more platelets and a blood transfusion this morning.
Please say a prayer for Archer. His platelets have been giving him trouble the last few days. ๐ฉธWe got a transfusion yesterday to hopefully make it through the weekend. Today I noticed some blood coming from his nose and some new small dots all over him especially his legs. I called the on call doctor to see what we should do. He wanted us to come to the er to get labs drawn and possible transfusion. Our platelet levels were 8 yesterday, which they always transfuse if it gets below 10. Well today they are 4. So we will be admitted for a transfusion and monitor his lab work tomorrow in case he needs more. We want to give a shout out to the Carter Tough Foundation. Thank you for the donation to us in honor of your little one!
Thank you for everyone's thoughts and prayers! Archer did great today in surgery and they got his port replaced. We are home now and someone is full of energy! We will go back for a lumbar puncture and chemo on Monday!
It has been an exhausting week for our warrior! He has had chemo everyday this week and is getting an oral chemo at home every night. His port has not been drawing blood back for a couple weeks now. We have tried several rounds of TPA and had a couple imagining studies done and it has been decided to replace the port. He will have surgery tomorrow morning to replace the port! He has been so resilient through everything his body has gone through! We are forever grateful for all the thoughts and prayers that Archer and our family has received! Please continue to pray for little man! ๐ฉต๐ฉต
Thank you everyone for all the thoughts and prayers! Archer made counts today to start our next part of treatment! We will have a couple very busy weeks of appointments and chemo! This regimen has been pretty hard on him in the past but he will be a rockstar! Please continue to pray for him as we continue this battle our warrior has been such a trooper for!
Well we didn't make counts again on Tuesday. We were not getting blood return from his port so we spent most of the day troubleshooting it! Archer was a rockstar that day and did amazing! His counts are going up which is good. His platelets have been awesome so we are waiting on his ANC to get to 750. The ANC is the infection rate, the lower the number the higher chance for infection. We hope to make counts on Monday so we can start this next part of his treatment! We thank each of you for your thoughts and prayers and we ask that you continue to pray for him!
As we finish the week off, we want to thank every single person for the prayers, thoughts, and support from all of Archer's Warriors! We have had some amazing visitors lately! Abate District 3 of Kansas came to visit last weekend and we were so honored and blessed by a donation that their chapter gave us to help in this journey! We also had some grandparents come to see us! It was great week!
Archer has had a couple weeks of not making his counts to start the next part of this phase. We have tried 4 times now and his ANC still has not recovered. We will go back on Tuesday to try again. We pray that they have recovered so we can continue on or the doctors might have to look at other reasons for it not going up. If he makes counts then we will be going everyday Tuesday - Friday for two weeks for chemo! This part of our treatment was very hard on our platelets and blood counts last time he had this regimen of chemotherapy. Please continue to pray for Archer and that his body will heal so we can continue on with treatment and this part will not be so hard on his body! I knew we would have bumps in the road during our long journey! Sometimes they are hard on everyone though! Archer seems to feel pretty good right now! We love seeing his smiles, laughs, and orneriness.
Archer is doing as good as he can right now! He has finished the first part of Delayed Intensification so now we wait. Once he makes counts he will start the 2nd part of this phase! He will be going in Monday with an intent to start but it all depends on his counts! We hope he makes his counts as soon as his body is ready to continue this journey! He had a rough couple weeks because of steroids but he seems to be back to his normal happy self, even though he keeps telling mom noaaaaa. He's been loving his Cheetos, velveeta mac and cheese, mandarin oranges, pancakes/waffles, and ice cream this go around! We thank you for all the continued support and prayers! It has been a battle but Archer is winning like the warrior he is! Please keep praying for little man we can feel them!
It has been a very busy few weeks! Mom going back to work and Archer going back to daycare has been amazing! Archer's speech has improved a lot being around kids his age again. He doesn't like the drop offs but loves being with his friends! This cycle of chemo we have been on has been a godsend, we needed some normalcy again at least for a little bit!
Tomorrow, we start our next cycle of chemotherapy. This round is called Delayed Intensification. It will be a lot of the chemos we had in the beginning. They are some pretty harsh chemos with some that he has been on this whole journey. He will also start a new chemo that is shown to be beneficial to patients with Lymphoma. He will be on steroids. Last time we were on steroids he quit eating and we had to feed him through his ng tube. The doctor said he was a very sick little guy when we started and has surprised him with how well he has taken everything so far. I told him Archer is always full of surprises. We will have a couple rough months this summer but we pray it will be the last big hurrah of his treatment.
Please say a prayer for Archer that he continues to be a strong little dude through all this. He has been the strongest person I know through this and has become one of my heroes. He is a true warrior. Please pray that these chemos don't make him as sick as they did in the beginning. Please pray that he continues to eat and takes his meds by mouth as we don't want the ng tube back in. Thank you for all the continued prayers. We have felt them and seen god in so many ways through this whole process. We couldn't do this without him, our family and friends, and all Archers Prayer Warriors!
Man what was suppose to be a calm week really turned into a crazy week! We were not scheduled to go back to the doctor at all this week and return next Monday and Tuesday! Archer had other plans though! We had an awesome weekend of Easter egg hunts, church, and so much more with dad home!
Monday, Archer started acting more worn out than normal and fell asleep for a nap by 11 which is very early for him! Well when he woke I felt his head and it was warmer, so I took him temperature and it was 100.5 so I put in a call to his amazing oncology team and I took it again an hour later and it had raised up to 100.9. Off to the ER we went, but of course when we got there it was normal. They gave us a couple antibiotics through his port and we got to go home. He seemed to have felt better Tuesday afternoon and so we went back to school and daycare on Wednesday!
Thursday, he woke up with a barking cough so I called his doctor. We went to see our doctor in town to get checked out per his oncology teams request. He didn't have any worries and thought he had something viral going on but to come back if he started to get worse. Then we get back home to eat lunch, his ng tube comes out, so off to the ER in Eureka we go to get a new one placed. They get us in and out fairly quickly so we stop for fries! This seems to be what he wants after all of his appointments lately.
Over night I noticed a wheezing type sound coming from Archer but he didn't have a fever so we talked to the on call doctor and he said to watch him since he didn't have a fever! This morning he woke up and played for a bit and then fell asleep for a morning nap. During his nap, our amazing nurse navigator Chelsee called to check on him and could hear him breathing over the phone and was concerned. After talking to the phenomenal Dr Hall, his oncologist, they thought it would be best to take him into the ER to get checked out. I had noticed his head had been getting warmer throughout the morning so I took his temperature before we left and it was 100.6 so I called her to let her know and we headed to the closest ER in Eureka again. His team called that hospital to let them know what was happening and what they would like for them to do. When we got to the hospital, I saw Beth the nurse that we see a lot if we go up there and I was very grateful to see her as she knows Archer. When we got into the room his temperature was 101. They got him accessed, blood drawn, and nose swabbed for 30 different viruses very quickly. The doctor listened to him and he sounded clear in his lungs thankfully! They started him on fluids, gave him some Tylenol, and an iv antibiotic! His labs came back and everything was looking very good. His nose swab came back and showed he had two different viruses so we got a different IV antibiotics that should help him for at least 24 hours then sent us home!
Please pray for our little warrior. He has been through a lot this week! Please pray that he begins to feel better and that this doesn't get worse! Please pray for him and that his fever goes away, his cough gets better, and his poor little nose has stops running nonstop! Dad and I will watch him closely this weekend. Then we will go to see his doctor for his next treatment and check in on Monday. Please pray that he is feeling better by then and we are able to stay on track with his chemo! We believe in the power of prayer and we appreciate all the prayers we have received and are still receiving! We have seen god so many times through this whole process!
Sorry it's been a hot minute since I have updated everyone on Archer! Time definitely got away from us! We had some exciting things happened this week! Monday, Archer started his new cycle of chemo that will be every ten days! He has been a trooper and did amazing this week as they did a bone marrow aspiration and a lumbar puncture with chemo, then two more different chemos that day! Plus another on Tuesday. He didn't miss a beat! This cycle of chemo will not be so hard on him and his counts so he got to go back to daycare and mom went back to teaching this week! The drop offs were a little rough but he had such a great time being around his friends again! Mom missed her class and she feels so blessed to be back with her 2nd graders! It felt amazing for both of us! Dad was home this week too so it was overall an outstanding week! Archer's next chemo will be Thursday!
We feel so fortunate to have all the support we have received! It truly takes a village and we have one of the best! Thank you for all the prayers! We ask that you continue to pray for Archer as we continue treatment and drop offs to get better! It has been a blessing for him to be handling everything the way he has! He is truly a warrior!
Man what a whirlwind of a few days! Archer has been doing really good! Full of energy and non stop for a few weeks. We are on our 2nd round of the consolidation phase of his chemo. He got chemo four days the last two weeks. This chemo can really affect his blood counts. He has been bruising very easily the last week. We have been watching his platelets and they have been dropping rapidly over the last week. Well he fell down like any normal two year old and bumped his head Sunday night. Thankfully we were staying at the Ronald McDonald house but I called the on call doctor and she said to take him in to the ER to get his platelets checked and if they were below 10 then we would be admitted for a transfusion that night. Well his platelets were 8. They got us a bed on the peds floor and he was given platelets that night. They checked that morning and his platelets went up to 16, which is what we like to see. We went over to our 6th floor to get his chemo in the afternoon and then released last night. They wanted to do a blood check this morning. We got to our appointment and Archer has not been himself this morning. He has had no energy and not his normal happy go lucky self. We got his counts back and his platelets are 7. We are getting another transfusion today and hopefully he perks up. Our oncology team has been amazing to not only Archer but to this mama! We couldn't do it without them! Please pray for Archer and that this transfusion will help him be himself again and that his numbers will start to improve! Cancer is so hard on his little body but we trust in our lord and savior to see us through this! We know he has a plan for Archer and he has his arms wrapped around us as we continue to fight!
Man what a crazy few weeks! We have been busy with chemo, lumbar punctures, lab draws, and playing at home! Archer has been doing great through this whole process! Today is day 22 of our consolidation phase! Last week his platelets dropped very quickly and we were expecting to have to do a platelet transfusion before his lumbar puncture and chemo today. His labs came back this morning and they were around 200 which the doctor wanted a redraw since they had increased so much. The redraw came back and yes they had increased like the first draw said so no transfusion ๐๐ผ! He did awesome during his lumbar puncture today and we just have chemo left! Then we get a much needed break! We will come back next Monday where we will see if he makes counts to complete the last four weeks over again! Archer sure is a fighter! He has had a rough two and half months but is still the sweetest boy! All his nurses and doctors have been absolutely amazing, he adores them even if he tells them no all the time lol! He may say no but let's then do what they are wanting and then he has gotten very good at telling them 'than you'! Thank you to all those of our supporters and prayer warriors! We have been in awe of all the support we have gotten! Our family could not do this without you! We will forever be grateful!
We pray that the Lord will continue to lay his healing hands on our little boy for his physical health but also his mental health!! Archer has been doing amazing but I know he misses his daycare friends and all the people that love him and he loves! Here is to a week of getting our numbers up to start our next cycle, snuggles, games, dancing, laughs, and even his two year old attitude at times! ๐คฃ
Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! We took it easy and hung around the house! He didn't make counts last week so we got to enjoy time with mom, dad, and Grammie! We did have to go up to Greenwood County Hospital to get our NG tube replaced again as it came out. They are awesome to little man!
We have found our legs again! He really took off walking and crawling again this past week and seems so happy to be able to move again! He still needs more strength in his legs to be back to where he was but he is getting there and it makes our hearts so happy!
Today we came back to see his oncologist and see if he made counts this week! He made counts and even doubled what they should be to start! So we started his next phase of chemo today! He got fluids before, two intravenous chemos, and a three hours of fluids! So we had a full day at the hospital! He was so funny and made everyone smile and laugh today! It has been awesome to see our little man's personality again! We will be back at the hospital daily until Thursday! Then back to Wichita on Sunday for an early morning lumbar puncture on Monday and another full week of chemo!
Please pray for little man that he can continue to feel okay while starting this next phase of chemo! We know God is with us every step of the way through this journey! As we might not understand the reason for this it is all in his hands and Archer will have quite a testimony to share in the future!
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We had a very laid back Christmas except the trip to get our NG tube replaced but other wise had a fun Christmas at home! Thank you to all that made Archer's Christmas so special!
Last week with Grammie, we went to Children's Mercy in Kansas City for his PET/CT scans and port placement. We stayed the night before at the Ronald McDonald house of Kansas City. We got there in time for dinner and got to meet a Chief player TE Jody Fortson! Mama was excited to say the least! He donated an amazing meal and we were able to get a signed Chiefs flag! Also, that night Santa came to visit with lots of presents! Archer met Santa for the first time! He was very talkative to him when he was in mama's arm and then very shy when he sat with Santa. We were able to pick out some toys for Christmas and it was very special to us.
Tuesday, Archer did awesome during our full day of scans and his procedures! We were able to stop and see Aunt Clair on our way home! Later that week, we had to go get his NG tube replaced because it came out and get blood work done. He did amazing while they accessed his port for the first time! The nurse said he didn't even flinch! We pray that he does not struggle when he gets his port accessed. The doctor called and said that his scan turned out good so we praise God for this great Christmas miracle news!
Christmas Eve Papaw came to hang out and bring our dogs home! Archer was so excited to see Papaw and his puppies! We have noticed since being home he is trying to move around a lot more! We hope to build up his leg muscles again so he can start standing and walking again soon! He has been running since he started walking so he is definitely ready to be walking again!
Tomorrow, we will go back to Wichita to check in with his amazing Oncologist and team. Here he we will do some blood work to check his counts. If he has made counts, then we will start the consolidation phase of his treatment plan. If he doesn't then we will head home again to check later!
Please continue to pray for our little warrior! He has such a long road ahead but seems to be in good spirits and we hope this continues! He is such a strong little man and has taught us so much about strength! We hope everyone has an amazing new year and can't wait to see what 2023 brings!!
We got to come home this evening! We had a fun weekend even though we were in the hospital! Thank you for all the prayers! We have a big week ahead of us. Tomorrow, we will make our way to Kansas City for an appointment Tuesday morning. He will have a sedated PET scan, CT scan, and they will place his port in at Children's Mercy. Then on Wednesday we will go back to see his oncologist to do some lab work and possibly start the next phase of his chemotherapy treatment! Please keep our little warrior in your thoughts and prayers!
Prayer Warriors please say a prayer for Archer as we are in the ER with a low grade temperature.
Thank you to all of our prayer warriors. We have some exciting news. We are headed home but please keep praying for our little Archer!!!!
We have been on this scary journey of cancer for more than one month now. One month of tests, one month of treatment, one month of procedures, one month of being in the hospital. We have completed our induction phase of his treatment. We will start the consolidation phase in a week. This week will be a big week as he is scheduled to get a port placed in his chest and if we are released he is scheduled to get a PET scan to see if there is more cancer spots in other places. Normally they will get a scan before treatment but due to the severity of his mass we had to start treatment immediately.
This week has been rough. He has been having severe stomach pains, higher heart rate, bouts of puking, and diarrhea. We have had many specialists in to look at him so yesterday we had lots of tests done to find the root cause of these issues. Please pray for some answers and a solution for our little guy.
Please keep praying for Archer as we navigate our new reality! It is going to be a rough phase but I know God has us! Please pray for some peace for little man his little body has been through so much already and has a long way to go! God is the healer!
We have had friends and family ask if we have a place they can donate. We have a PayPal fundraiser set up to help with medical bills, gas for back and forth to treatment, and so much more related to Archer's cancer treatment and the fight of our two year old's life. If you do not want to donate through this link then he does have an account set up through Howard State Bank in Howard, Kansas under Archer's Benefit. If you are not able to donate, we would love and appreciate all the prayers we can get.

We are asking Archers Prayer Warriors to please pray for our little man. Here are some updates.
Saturday he got his next treatment over in the PICU and we got to catch up with one of our favorite nurses! He did well this treatment. He also started losing his hair and now has lost it all. Sunday, he had some blood work done and his hemoglobin came back low so yesterday he had a blood transfusion, we were told this is very common with his chemotherapy treatments. He did well. He has not been wanting to eat the last couple days so he has been getting nutrients through his ng tube but has had a few episodes of vomiting. Today I noticed he has been getting very red in the cheeks again and warmer to the touch. I took his temperature and it was higher than we like so the nurse came in his room to take it and sure enough he has a fever. We will start antibiotics immediately. They also noticed that his liver enzymes were climbing so they did a sonogram today to see if they can figure out the why. Please pray that he gets over this illness quickly. We appreciate all our medical staff and all their hard work. Please pray for peace for our little warrior and his medical team!
