Top 4 lessons learned from felting 30 used wool sweaters:

1. It's a lot of work for one person to search for used wool clothing and turn them into boiled wool, and you never know what size you'll get after felting is complete - some shrink 50% and some shrink 20%!

2. 100% wool isn't easy to find. You also can't tell just by the feel or look of the material - there are so many blends and synthetics pretending to be wool or cashmere! I read a thousand tags to find my stock.

3. Not all wool will felt. Even if it's 100% wool, some articles have been treated to remove the extraneous fibres that would bind during the felting process. You can wash it a million times, and it will look the same. Who knew??

4. Holes can appear after washing. Some holes will actually close up through the process, but I also found that holes got bigger, and sometimes appeared out of nowhere!

Sliding Scale Pricing 26/11/2020

Sliding scale prices? Yup.
Sliding scale pricing offers a service or product with multiple price points. The goal is to make this clothing accessible to people with different levels of income, so that lack of financial resources need not be a barrier. Folks can chose the price point that best reflects their ability pay, based on their individual circumstances.

You can find three different prices listed on my inventory page.
The lowest amount covers my expenses, the middle amount pays me for my time, and the highest amount also offsets costs for a lower income individual.

I invite you to pay the lowest fee if paying more would cause you to be less secure in your ability to meet your basic food, health, housing or transport needs. If you never have any worry about meeting your basic needs, then please consider paying the highest price. If you're somewhere in the middle then the middle price might be for you. You choose your own price. Zero judgement. I'm happy with what you choose.

I am basing this largely on what The Wild Garden did with their sliding scale: http://www.thewildgarden.ca/sliding-scale-pricing.html
