Grand architectures in Bruges, the capital of the province of West Flanders, Belgium. Followed by seal spotting at Nieuwpoort IJzermonding!
Wandering the streets of Mechelen, Belgium, and we hiked up the 538 steps to the top of St. Rumbold’s Tower. We were pretty impressed by the automated carillon in the tower which plays a song every 7.5 minutes. The tower contains 49 bells, with the heaviest one weighing 8 tons.
The Eifelsteig is a 313km long hiking trail spanning from Aachen to Trier, divided into 15 stages.
We partially hiked the third stage which runs from the timber-framed village of Monschau to Einruhr am Obersee totalling 24km (we did an out-and-back without finishing the stage due to issues with transport).
One of my fav cities for this trip: Luxemburg.
First we did a hike on the Mullerthal Trail,to see the Cascade De Mullerthal (waterfall), then we strolled through the city, and went into the Casemates du Bock (underground tunnels) followed by the free National Museum of History and Art.
A brief update from Germany: Koblenz and Surrounds.
While I am usually a nature and landscape photographer, in some European countries we have these almost-1000 years old buildings which we just don't have in Australia or NZ.
First 5 photos are of Biebricher Schloss (Biebrich Palace), built in 1702.
Next 5 are a small random selection of photos of Marksburg Castle, initially built in 1100 and is one of the only 2 hill casltes between Bingen am Rhein and Koblenz that have never been destroyed.
The rest are of Stolzenfels Castle, originally built in the 13th century and then rebuilt after being destroyed.
Goslar is a historic town on the northwestern slopes of the Harz mountain range.
This is a random selection of photos taken when we were wandering the streets of this old town.
Cathedral Rock (880m) - a 4-hour return hike on kunanyi / Mt Wellington. After an initial cruisy walk for about 45 mins, it is then constant uphill gaining around 600m in elevation.
After the hike, we visited the Bush Bakery at Leslie Vale for lunch - would highly recommend!

I have created a time lapse from last weekend's aurora show - on YouTube because quality of videos on FB is not the greatest.

Another pano of last night's aurora australis.
First time trying to do a pano of the aurora last night; but no pictures will ever capture the sheer size and luminosity of the show.
Mt Wedge - a "relatively easy foray" into the Southwest National Park (quoted from The Abels), with about 800m of elevation gain over 2km. We took about 4hrs 15mins return with breaks and lunch at the top.

Not far from Mt Tyndall is Mt Murchison (1275m), a 5km return day walk (we took around 3.5hrs including stops for photos and snacks on the top). It's one of the best day hikes I have done in terms of ease, views, and variety of track.
Mt Tyndall is a 9km (including Lake Tyndall), 4-5hrs return hike on the Tyndall Range, close to the West Coast of Tasmania.
Been talking about hiking Mt Tyndall since last year, finally had the opportunity to do the hike this past long weekend!
Got the best weather, and enjoyed a stunning sunset.

On the way to Barn Bluff today.
It took a bit of patience (both from myself and my hiking buddy) to get this shot, as Barn Bluff was going in and out of fog cover.

Finally paid Lake Rhona a visit over the weekend, after years of wanting to hike there.
This is a 28km return hike (to the lake only, excluding side trips such as Great Dome, Reeds Peak etc), over boggy buttongrass plains cumulating in an uphill climb as you approach Lake Rhona.

Litchfield National Park is an ancient landscape shaped by water, important to the Koongurrukun, Mak Mak Marranunggu, Werat and Warray Aboriginal people. The National Park covers some 1,500 sq km, and is home to some massive magnetic termite mounds (they can be taller than the average person) and crystal clear pools fed by mulitple waterfalls.

Watching the sun setting over the Timor Sea / Indian Ocean, while enjoying a variety of delicious food from the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Market - a seasonal market started in 1987.
The market is held every Thursday and Sunday evening during the Top End's dry season.
