Casco Bay Catholics will be having a cookout on Saturday, July 23rd at St. Gregory's Campground in Gray! Young adults (ages 18-35) are invited to the 4 pm Mass, followed by food and games. Last night we joined parishioners for Stations of the Cross at St. Christopher’s on Peaks Island and had another meeting of the young adult Lenten small group focusing on the 7 Last Words of Christ. This upcoming Friday 3/25 we will be going to St. Louis in Portland for Stations of the Cross, a soup dinner, and the Casco Bay Catholic Lenten small group meeting.

Throughout Lent the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes will host Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 6 pm. Each Friday will be at a different church. Tomorrow, March 11 will take place at Sacred Heart in Portland. After Stations of the Cross with the parish, young adults (ages 18-35) will gather for the first meeting of the Lenten small group.

The small group will focus on the 7 Last Words of Christ devotion. We will continue to meet every Friday during Lent at the different churches of the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes that will be hosting the Stations of the Cross. Message us with any questions!

Young adults ages 18-35 are invited to journey into Lent with a retreat! Sessions throughout the weekend will be led by area priests and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. There will be time for quiet reflection, Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Mass, and more. Topics will include how to rest and renew in God in our busy world and how taking time to focus our days on Him invites us to a deeper relationship with God and neighbor.

Hour of Power Adoration will be 6 pm tomorrow at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception! Young adults will gather afterward for fellowship. Adoration will happen regardless of the weather, but please use your best judgment and stay safe out on the roads.

Join us this Sunday at 3 pm for caroling around Portland!

Young adults (ages 18-35) in the Portland area and beyond are encouraged to gather to spread joy and cheer on the streets of Portland on Sunday, December 12! Casco Bay Catholics, a young adult ministry in Portland, will host the event which begins at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Participants will sing Christmas carols around the area before returning to the cathedral for an Advent evening prayer service with Fr. Seamus Griesbach, pastor of the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes. For more information about the gathering, contact Abrey at [email protected].

This coming Sunday, November 28th is the first Sunday of Advent and the beginning of Sunday Evening Prayer at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Fr. Seamus will lead Evening Prayer at 5:30 pm each Sunday. Prayer will be about 25 minutes long. Fr. Seamus will then offer a teaching (about 30 min) in the side chapel for anyone who is able to stay. Young adults will gather to hang out at Otto's pizza after the prayer and teaching. Message us if you have any questions!

Beginning next Sunday, November 28th, Fr. Seamus will lead Evening Prayer at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 5:30 pm on each Sunday of Advent! This will be a special time to grow in your prayer life this Advent season. We are in need of readers, servers, and sacristans! If you are interested in helping out we will have a training today at 5:30 pm at the Cathedral. Please message us for more information!

It was just announced that Blessed Carlo Acutis will serve as the patron of the first year of the new three-year Eucharist Revival project in the US! Blessed Carlo Acutis is the first millennial to be beatified. He used his computer programming skills to share information online about Eucharistic miracles. He died in 2006 at the age of 15 shortly after being diagnosed with leukemia. The revival will begin on June 16, 2022 on the feast of Corpus Christi.

During the upcoming Advent season, Fr. Seamus will be leading Evening Prayer on Sunday Evenings at 5:30 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Some of his sermons will focus on the Eucharist. Join us in following Blessed Carlo's lead and growing in devotion to the Eucharist! Blessed Carlo Acutis, pray for us!
