Very excited to be returning to Gainesville, FL this Oct 22 to perform both solo-acoustic and as part of an All-Star Band jam! I’ve not been there since 2019 and can’t wait to get back!

The show that I posted about a couple days ago, with The Long Players doing the Wildflowers album songs and others, has been postponed due to a couple of the band members testing positive for COVID.

I forgot to tell you, about the Jan. 1 show I posted earlier tonight, the club requires proof of vaccination or recent negative COVID test

Don Everly’s obituary in The Tennessean today. They kept it simple, didn’t list all his many accomplishments. They didn’t have to, we know.
I met him one time, way back in the Spring of ‘73, at a tiny club in Calabasas, CA. called The Sundance Saloon. He was leading an impromptu group of great, well-known musicians. I can’t remember exactly who they were now.
He was really lit up with alcohol and blowing off a lot of steam. I had only moved to Topanga Canyon a few weeks before and I didn’t know about his very public blowup and breakup with his brother Phil. That must have happened shortly before this night.
He was leading the group through a long set of 50’s rock’n’roll with tremendous energy, each song right into the next. I had never seen anything like this back in Gainesville, FL where I had come from.
When they finally took a break the band was standing around out in the sandy dirt parking lot. I knew some of them already, and was introduced to Don, who was very nice and obviously enjoying himself and jamming with his friends in such a free-form way. I felt like they accepted me as a friend so I hung out with them, really just thrilled to be there. After the break they went back inside and played another long set just as energized as the first, just a few feet away from my front-row table. Don was pulling one great song after another out of his memory and the band was playing brilliantly.
Such a legendary talent and one of my heroes. I feel very blessed to have heard him like that and that I got to meet him that night. Well done, Don!
