The state has also created a new nine-member “Fast Food Council” to manage the industry. The Council is comprised of representatives of the restaurant owners, the employees, and the government. Jointly, they will oversee the state’s restaurants to assure working conditions are satisfactory. The Soviet Union ran business in a similar fashion.
The response of the restaurant owners is predictable. Besides reducing worker hours and positions, they will invest less in store upkeep and more in self-service terminals, which eliminate the need for employees. To the extent they can, they will raise prices. And they will be far more likely to open their next location in any state other than California.

California now has half of the country’s unsheltered homeless, at least 180,000 people by a recent count. A Supreme Court ruling overturning the Ninth Circuit is essential to ensuring that states and cities across the U.S. are not hamstrung by this strained interpretation of the Eighth Amendment. But it is unlikely to help my city of Los Angeles, where the 15-member city council does not have a single Republican, the mayor is Karen Bass, the district attorney is George Gascon, and Democrats hold super-majorities in the state senate and assembly and hold every statewide office.

The state obviously does not trust parents to properly care for their own children. Since we know how the state deals with gender dysphoria in youth, we know that its real concern is that parents may choose not to embrace the dysphoria and may seek out professionals who still treat it as a disorder. The state has already sought to prevent parents from doing so in a 2012 law which makes it illegal for “mental health providers” to treat minors who seek to change their “s*xual orientation” or “gender expressions.”

The Soviet Union had a long history with poisoning. It killed artists, writers, musicians, and even dancers. It killed them secretly, usually using poison to avoid accountability. Among its victims was Anna Pavlova, perhaps the greatest dancer ever, because she dared to defy Stalin. Sarah Wynne is the co-author of The Dancer and the Devil which traces Marxism’s century-long fascination with poison and bioweapons. Putin has embraced the tactic, having carried out his own string of poisonings, most recently of opponent Alexei Navalny.

A Simple Solution to LA’s Out-of-Control Homeless Problem

There is an easy explanation for Los Angeles’ out-of-control homeless encampments: The city’s leaders allow them. They instructed the LAPD years ago to stop enforcing its no camping laws, which had prevented tents or sleeping on city sidewalks, in parks, beaches, and other public spaces. Incredibly, it also instructed police that such tents must be treated as private homes!

Comets and asteroids have been colliding with the Earth from the beginning of time, most recently about 100 years ago in Siberia. George Howard is an expert on cosmic impacts. He says they have occurred far more often, and are far more likely to strike again than most scientists think. He helped discover that the “Younger Dryas” period (about 11000 to 10,000 BC), which brought on an ice age that led to the extinction of animals such as the wooly mammoth and saber-toothed tiger, was caused by an asteroid colliding with the Earth. While mainstream scientists have yet to accept the theory, he reminds us that experts were also slow to accept that the same type of collision caused the extinction of the dinosaurs 230 million years ago. He also reports that life on earth likely arrived via a comet.

The left’s hypocrisy has been spiraling out of control lately. As long as the left controls the speech on social media, they say nothing. When someone they perceive as being from the right threatens to take over one site, suddenly we need a “Disinformation Governance Board” to control it.
In a letter recently issued to all state attorney generals, sent on the new “Transgender Day of Visibility,” the Department of Justice (DOJ) asserted that minors have a constitutional right to what they call “gender-affirming care,” and they will go after any state that attempts to limit those rights.

LOS ANGELES - It has been 30 years since Los Angeles experienced the Rodney King riots, a time when crime and race relations were arguably at their worst in the city. To those of us who lived through it, 2022 feels a lot like 1992.

In 1991, LAPD officers were captured on film beating suspect Rodney King after he had led police on a high-speed car chase and tried to evade arrest. When video of the beating aired on television, people were appalled. It was instantly labeled a racial incident by the left because King was Black. Racial tensions escalated throughout the year as instigators accused the LAPD of widespread racism. When the police officers were acquitted a year later, protests erupted throughout the country. In LA, the protests turned to looting and riots.

The State of California mandates how many minorities, women, and LGBT people must be on a public company board if headquartered in the state. It has no mandate related to the qualifications of such persons, only that they “identify” as the proper s*x, race, ethnicity, or s*xual orientation favored by the state. However, a Superior Court judge ruled last week that such mandates are unconstitutional, violating the “equal protection” clause.

The city is in the process of selecting, by lottery, 25 residents to receive $1,000 per month. It’s called the West Hollywood Pilot for Guaranteed Income. But you do not need to be homeless to enter the lottery. You do not even have to be a citizen. What you must be is le***an, or gay, or bis*xual, or transgender, or “queer,” or “inters*x,” or “as*xual,” aka “LGBTQIA.” Straight people, regardless of whether you are homeless or how destitute you may be, need not apply.

LGBTQ activists are enraged at Florida’s legislature for passing the “Parental Rights in Education” bill, which they mislabel the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
The bill seeks to ban teachers from instructing students about s*xual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Few believe children of this age (five to eight years old) should be taught in school about homos*xuality and transgenderism, but for LGBTQ activists, this does not matter. They call it oppression and have rallied their formidable forces to defeat it, even coercing the corporation most identified with children—Disney—to oppose it. They do not like to lose, and rarely do.
