Saturday October 8th is the opening of COMMENTARIVM's very first on base event within the scope of the Reading Room Sessions series, which was initiated as a project that opens a special area of experience for book-based art productions; starting with Borga Kantürk's Solo Exhibition titled 'Book of short distances: En route'. In this exhibition, Kantürk's productions, which include three different moves and exercise models, will be centered on the "book of short distances", a book in which each of them is combined as a fascicle. And these three exercises, which have been institutionalized by turning into a book, will try to reopen the building model within the space and distribute it. The reader/viewer/listener can either turn to the book format integrated in the space or follow the tracks of the other pieces separately. The exhibition will be open until October 30. During the event, copies of the Book, multiples of the photography pieces and fine art prints of the poster will be available for purchasing. A series of activities will be performed within this series that will include variations, readings and interpretations on the book experience of both the books in COMMENTARIVM archive and the productions of specially invited guests. #commentarivm #enroute #seyirhalinde #borgakantürk #artistbook #readingroomsessions

Escape the Overcode: Activist Art in the Control Society by Brian Holmes This publication contains a selection of texts and essays by the writer Brian Holmes that engage with the possibilities and problematics of geopolitics and geopoetics. Holmes is a crucial contemporary writer and thinker whose insight into current social and political developments and how they relate to artistic processes opens up a new field of “geocritique”. The examples he cites extend across Latin America, Europe and Asia, where he looks at networks, artworks, films, institutions and protest movements for signs of how future progressive strategies might be shaped. The texts here are connected in part with the long-term collaborative research project Continental Drift.
