Did you know: it takes between 2-3 weeks to create a Willow & Bairn babe? Here is a sneak peek at the process of achieving skintone:
Skintone and features are painted in layers. There are three foundational colours (red, yellow, and blue) which require many, many layers each. Each layer must be set.
Setting is heat-driven. Each layer takes about 8 minutes to set in the heat at 265*F, an additional half an hour in the machine while it is turned off, and then a further 25-30 minutes to cool before the set surface can be worked on again. It's like making macarons... but with dolls.
At minimum, each babe has 50-60 layers of paint to achieve the desired tone of skin. Black and darker complexion babies may require 120+ layers. Phew!

Meet Maddox!
Maddox was born on August 5, 2021 weighing 6 lbs, 2 oz., and measuring 19 inches long.
He was lovingly handcrafted using vinyl limbs and head, and a cloth body. He was painted with heat-set paint and a premium sealer.
