Air Evac Lifeteam is heartbroken to report that three crew members have perished in an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 20. At 11:23 pm local time AEL's Operations Control Center (OCC) lost contact with the aircraft, a Bell 206L3 with call sign N295AE. The crew is based out of Weatherford, OK, and was returning to base after completing a patient care transport in Oklahoma City when the OCC lost contact with them. Nearby AEL teams assisted local law enforcement with the search.

Our primary focus is on supporting the families and our team members. CISM teams have been sent to assist our team members during this time. Please reach out if you would like to speak with them.

At this time, we are not sharing the names of the crew members aboard the flight. We ask that you respect the privacy of our team members and their families, and please do not share their names.

AEL has turned over the scene and investigation to the NTSB.

A huge thank you to Anadarko Dozer & Trucking for purchasing a tourniquet for each of our officers. Often times a properly placed tourniquet can be the difference between life and death. We are grateful to be provided with these life saving tools.

****Arrested Aggravated S*x Offender****

Christopher Lee Pitts DOB: 12/20/1980 was arrested Saturday December 30, 2023, at 21:48 at the AutoZone in Elk City, Oklahoma for Failure to Register as a s*x offender. Per Title 57 Section 583 of the Oklahoma Statute, Pitts is to register with Local Law Enforcement within 3 days of residing or intending to remain for more than 7 consecutive days or 14 days in a 60-day period or longer.

Reports and complaints from the public began surfacing of a “s*x offender” being on the Drag during the night with local juveniles. An investigation began at this time in which Patrolman Quezada took the lead and was very thorough in his documentation of the interactions with Pitts over time to demonstrate a continued pattern and to assure the case against Pitt would survive court and the legal process. At no time was the Police Department aware of any specific threat posed by Pitts.

The Department would like to thank those people in the community that were concerned about these incidents and their desire to maintain a secure environment for our children. Any additional information that may be useful in this investigation can be forwarded to the Elk City Police Department. We would also like a shout out to Patrolman Quezada for his diligent efforts.

Chistopher Pitts is designated as an aggravated offender and has been registering in the county of Wash*ta. The city of Elk City, Beckham County has had no notification of Pitts registering in our jurisdiction. Charges are pending in Beckham County.

Due to projected high winds and sponsors not able to attend due to fall break, The CAC (child advocacy center) has decided to move the Putting Kids First Golf Tournament to October 26th @ 9am. So be sure to get your teams in if you haven't already. All proceeds will go to the START CAC for services delivered to children who have been physically and s*xually abused. We appreciate all the sponsors we have so far for this event to happen. We can't wait to see you there!
