Let’s talk about the magic of FIBER 🪄 ✨ Did you know that when fruits have a higher fiber to carbohydrate ratio that you can eat more of that fruit for less calories and carbohydrates compared to those with a low ratio??
For example, if raspberries have 15 grams of carbohydrates and 8 grams of fiber, you are only digesting 7 grams aka only 47% of those carbohydrates!! 😲😲 BUT if you look at a banana that has 27 grams of carbohydrates and 3 grams of fiber, you are digesting all 24 grams aka 90% of those carbohydrates.
Imagine being able to eat more and lose weight just by making small swaps for more fiber?
When I work with clients that have a history of recurrent miscarriage, something I like to focus on is increasing our vitamin E intake through food. This is so important to focus on especially if you are preparing for IVF or an IUI procedure.
Some great options include….
• adding sunflower seeds to salads or yogurts
• incorporating broccoli as a staple veggie for the week (I like to make siracha salmon bowls with broccoli and brown rice)
• replacing an olive oil with sunflower oil for salad dressings

8- Edamame
9- Canned salmon
10- Eggs
Many women come to me questioning why they have not been able to lose weight despite eating less, low carb, low fat, low calorie, etc., etc. It is quite common to think that the only way to lose weight is to deprive ourselves BUT I am here to tell you that is certainly NOT true…Here are 5 common mistakes written out…
1- Eating too few calories.
2- Eating extremely low carb.
3- Eating low fat.
4- Always choosing the lowest calorie option.
5- Letting mistakes turn into a binge.

It prevents us from ravenous hunger before dinner that often leads to mindless overeating of empty calories… like when the bread basket comes and your stomach is growling- IYKYK 😵💫😵💫!! Did I mention these are all VEGETARIAN OPTIONS?! 🌱 🥗 🥑
Nowadays we see these ‘ready-to-drink’ protein shakes almost everywhere. So which ones are the best and which ones are the worst? Swipe through to find out…
We are all looking for a simple answer to egg health and fertility, could a keto diet be it?? 🤔 While women with PCOS and obesity have seen positive fertility outcomes from following a keto diet, it is restrictive of nutrients that are crucial for fertility (think fiber, folate and vitamin C).
If you are someone who is looking to optimize their egg and/or fertility outcomes, speak with a Radically Rooted Dietitian for a customized plan based on YOUR unique needs 📝 🤓 🥕
SUPPLEMENT FACT CHECK!! It seems like it is every week I am hearing of a new supplement, anyone else?? Chasteberry is a supplement that is often known for its positive effects on PMS symptoms, menstruation symptoms and infertility.
The problem is, chasteberry does not have sufficient research on its effectiveness to even have a suggested dose. Hopefully there is more promising research to come!

I recently came across this supplement called Shatavari. It’s not a supplement I hear about frequently but it was definitely worth looking into. Shatavari does not currently have well established research on humans so it is not a supplement that is recommended until more information is known.
Potential benefits include:
1* Stress reducing
2* Improvement in female reproductive health
3* Improvement in menopause symptoms
4* Antioxidant effects
5* Anti-anxiety effects
6* Increased milk production during breastfeeding
7* Improved fertility outcomes in women with PCOS.

It’s quite often that I meet with a client and they tell me ‘they hardly eat’ but they cant seem to lose weight. The problem with this is, it may seem like they hardly eat because they are always hungry. This may be because they are not choosing nutrient dense foods that fill them up. Instead of having 5 pretzel rods for 186 calories why not have a whole turkey lettuce wrap for the same amount of calories? Besides for having more nutrients like fiber and protein it will also keep you fuller and more satisfied for hours opposed to minutes.
Plus, what looks more appetizing to you??

Are you trying to conceive and wondering if probiotics can help? With so much information available, it can be overwhelming to know the dos and don’ts during each phase of fertility..
While probiotics can help reduce inflammation and keep bad bacteria out, they are not the sole solution for a healthy fertility journey.
When searching for a probiotic that can improve fertility, it is essential to ensure that it includes strains of Lactobacillus, which are the most prominent ‘good bacteria’ for our health down under 😏
Are you a granola person?
it’s definitely a staple for my morning yogurt but how do we know the best one to choose?? Companies do a really great job at making it seem healthy but it could be loaded with sugar and sodium! Always check the label.

Usually when we think of melatonin, we think something we take for sleep, right? Who would have thought that melatonin could also have an impact on fertility?
IRecently there has actually been lots of research on melatonin’s effect on fertility. There are strong indications that taking melatonin to improve fertility could enhance IVF success rates, improve egg and embryo quality, and increase pregnancy rates.
But of course, benefits and dosage are determined on an individual basis. Speak with a Radically Rooted fertility dietitian to learn more!
Many couples think that having a healthy egg supply is the only factor that determines successful conception. However, this is a misconception. In fact, there are five crucial steps that contribute to a healthy and successful conception. These include the health of the s***m, any ovulatory complications, potential fertilization issues, and the success of the implantation process. It is important to consider all of these factors in order to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.
⚠️ SUPPLEMENT FACT CHECK! When I think of molecular hydrogen, I think of water (H2O). Water consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Research has shown that adding additional hydrogen to water increases its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has also been praised for its ability to improve muscle fatigue and brain function.
It is important to remember that although there is promising further research is needed to confirm these findings and to better understand the therapeutic functions.

Fiber is one of those nutrients that doesnt get enough attention. When was the last time you paid attention to the fiber content of foods? Fiber has so many benefits beyond just aiding in bathroom duties.
Fiber has a huge impact on weight management, heart health, blood sugar control and the risk of various chronic diseases. Yet the average intake for fiber in America is around 15 grams.
Can you meet the recommended intake of 25-38 grams a day?
Idiopathic infertility is a condition where the cause of infertility cannot be identified or explained despite undergoing comprehensive medical evaluation and testing.
Although oftentimes we hear about idiopathic infertility with women, male infertility alone accounts for 20-30% of infertility cases.
Lifestyle factors play a huge role, which fortunately can be improved through assistance from a dietitian with the support of your partner.
Most clients I meet who are looking to lose weight report only doing cardio exercises such as walking, cycling, and running.
While cardio will burn calories, it does not keep your body burning calories while you are at rest. Increased muscle mass will retain muscle mass and will keep the body burning fat even at rest.
I always recommend incorporating at least 2-3 days of 20-30 minutes of resistance training or weight training to retain muscle mass.
!!SUPPLEMENT FACT CHECK!! You may have come across Astaxanthin supplements (AS-TA-ZAN-THIN) online or at a nearby pharmacy. With the abundance of products available to us and constant advertisements bombarding us, it’s difficult to discern what we’re truly consuming and how it affects our bodies.
Though the research on humans is limited, what we do know is Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant with many potential benefits.
Note: This is for education purposes. Please consult with a dietitian or physician if you are interested in taking any form of dietary supplement.
Head over to our blog to learn more about the benefits of astaxanthin.
Weight gain goals for a SINGLE baby 👆👆
Oftentimes there is a misconception about pregnancy that women should gain a large amount of weight in order to have a healthy baby.
Weight gain is an essential part of pregnancy but the amount of to weight gain varies and is typically dependent on pre-pregnancy weight, overall health, and the number of babies being carried.
Did you know excess weight gain during pregnancy can actually lead to a greater chance of being overweight for years post pregnancy and lead to various health risks for both the mother and the baby? In contrast, insufficient weight gain may increase the risk of having a low birth weight baby or preterm birth.
