Sweezey for State Representative

Candidate for State Representative of the 6th Plymouth District

07/05/2023

Great turnout as always for the Pembroke Historical Society fish fry!

09/11/2022

Hello to anyone who may be following the race and looking for results. I have made my concession call. The results are in and the residents of the 6th Plymouth have spoken. I respect the results and the will of all the voters.

I truly cannot even begin to express my gratitude to all of the voters, volunteers, donors, friends, and family that were integral to this campaign. This has truly been the most worth while and rewarding experience of my lifetime. To the the thousands that voted for me your support means the world. I think that support shows our leaders that there is a large plurality that feels their voice is not heard on Beacon Hill and I vow to continue the fight with them to help them be heard.

I will conclude with two things.

This campaign is not the end but the beginning. I am committed to our communities and I will be here to serve in any capacity that I am able.

Lastly, I want to thank Representative Cutler for an incredibly respectful, cordial, and well run race. Nothing would make me happier than seeing our district prosper and that involves his success in the legislature as well.

Thank you to all who have followed along and God Bless America 🇺🇸

EVERY. VOTE. COUNTS.

Please get out to the polls on Tuesday if you haven’t already voted. Encourage a family member or friend to vote as well and hold each other accountable. We can’t win this unless everyone shows up. I thank you for all the support this year and look forward to serving you after we win this race!

Please check your town website for polling locations if you are unsure of how to vote on Election Day.

WATD-WHCA Political Forum for 6th Plymouth District 03/11/2022

Thank you to Whitman Hanson Community Access and 95.9 WATD FM for hosting our final debate of the election cycle. We dive into many important issues and I think this forum covered a lot and shows my vision for the future of the 6th Plymouth.

During this debate I had the opportunity to discuss my support for No votes on Question 1 and 4, the danger our historic fishing industry is in because of reckless "climate" policy, the importance of vocational education, why I support small business, and more! If you have the opportunity please watch and spread the word!

Only five days to go and I won't stop working to earn every last vote!

Great job by the Pembroke Fire Department at their open house today. It was awesome seeing a lot of engagement from the community!

28/10/2022

Tonight I had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Plymouth County Outreach. This is an incredible organization, with equally incredible staff, that works to prevent and assist those currently experiencing substance abuse disorder.

We all have heard, and likely know from family or friends with personal experience, that this issue is affecting many members of our communities. The victims of overdose are getting increasingly younger and younger. We must expand on these programs immediately and reduce stigma to precipitate positive outcomes.

PCO currently gets no funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and relies on grant funding from the federal government. They are currently only guaranteed funding through 2023. I promise as your next State Rep to do everything I can to assist PCO and programs like it in order to advocate for those struggling residents in our towns.

If you or a loved one is experiencing addiction please reach out for help. If you do not know where to start you can visit Plymouthcountyoutreach.org

With my background in law enforcement it is particularly humbling to earn the endorsement of such a stellar organization like the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association. I thank them for their support and all their members for their service to keep us all safe.

If you support our law enforcement officers and local departments then I believe your choice is clear on Election Day. Please get out and vote on or before November 8th.

When you head to the polls this Election Day, please support those who’ve shown their support for us. Now, more than ever before, we need elected officials who are unafraid to stand up for and defend the hardworking men and women of law enforcement. Police are not the problem. Police are not the enemy. Police, most assuredly, are part of the solution.

I have been fortunate to be endorsed by some great organizations and local leaders, but I am most eager to earn the endorsement of each and every individual in this district with your vote.

We have built an incredible grass roots campaign. One that is not defined by Beacon Hill connections or large PAC and special interest spending. I am not a career politician but a simple resident of the district with the public and private sector experience to help our economy and the moral courage to stand up for our freedoms, our businesses, and our children.

In this video I put the numbers behind the fact that this campaign has always been about you, and supported by you. This is my closing statement during my first debate. If you haven't had the opportunity to watch the entire program I strongly encourage you to do so as we dive into many of the issues we face in the 6th Plymouth District. You can watch the debate here: https://youtu.be/3dHNn14HO2E

I hope to have earned your support and would be honored to get your vote on or before November 8th.

Thank you to the many volunteers who came out today in Pembroke to support the campaign and hold signs! Thank you just as much to everyone who beeped, waved, and the couple of cars that pulled over to request a sign! 16 days left to go and we will all be working as hard as we can until then!

So glad I got a chance to stop by the Hanson Fire Open House today before heading out knocking doors. Great to see the community engage our local agencies and have a fun time doing it! Also happy to support the charitable efforts of by getting one of their shirts.

Very informative meeting this week in Duxbury relating to Over Sand Vehicle access to the beach. I always appreciate when all the stakeholders are willing to come together to talk and look for a path forward.

Some things were very clear at the meeting:

People are upset and rightfully so

The birds are thriving in New England due to all the actions taken because of a multitude of State and Federal regulations

Everyone wants to respect the birds and make sure they survive but sticker holders and the communities are essentially being punished for following the rules

Therefore, there must be an advocate for our communities that want to access the beach in all of the ways we traditionally have. I will always encourage preservation of our natural landscapes, wildlife, and resources but I will always go to bat for our communities that want to responsibly enjoy those landscapes. That requires someone to approach all the stakeholders and agencies to find a solution. I will be that advocate.

What a turnout Duxbury! A lot of participation at their special town meeting tonight which is great to see. Voters are engaged and educated on the issues and I think that helps our cause. Thank you to everyone you said hello while waiting in line!

What a week on the campaign trail! Happy to support other great candidates and meet voters that share an optimistic vision for the future of the Commonwealth. I also got the opportunity to stop by the Halifax Fire Station open house and then support our fishermen at an event for the Massachusetts Seafood Colaborative. No time to waste with 23 left to go! Please spread the word and get out to vote!

Massachusetts 6th Plymouth District - Candidate Forum 2022 13/10/2022

Thank you to PACTV (Plymouth Area Community Television) for a great candidate forum, they are full of professionals that understand the big issues across the South Shore and bring great information to the voters of our district. During the forum we discuss many important issues including the income tax surcharge (Question 1), driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants (Question 4), affordable housing, water safety and infrastructure, mental health, and more. This debate paints a clear picture of the stark differences between myself and my opponent. Please share as much as possible to get the word out and help those undecided voters learn where I stand before November 8th!

This morning I had the privilege to visit the Plymouth County Sheriffs Office. I got the opportunity to tour the correctional facility and meet the amazing officers, nurses, administrators, and many other support staff that makes the facility run. What a professional and dedicated staff we have in Plymouth County! I also got to meet with civilian members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, which houses the county crime lab. It was very nostalgic for me talking with the experts about their fingerprint examinations and processing capabilities. Thank you to my many hosts and thank you to Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald, Jr for everything you do for Plymouth County.

Endorsement Alert!

The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association has endorsed my candidacy for State Representative!

As many of you know my professional background is in Law Enforcement where I spent four years as a forensic scientist. It was this experience that was a major catalyst to enter politics. I served with so many incredible men and women in blue and felt that entering this race was the best way to assist them in their mission going forward. I promise to always support our law enforcement and advocate for victims not criminals. Thank you to the BPPA for recognizing this commitment and supporting me.

The rain was unfortunately a bit too much for doors yesterday so we joined some neighboring RTCs for a fundraiser. Thank you to the Whitman Republican Town Committee and East Bridgewater Republican Town Committee for hosting a great event. I look forward to joining all of these great elected officials after November 8th!

National Grid says electricity prices to skyrocket - CommonWealth Magazine 22/09/2022

This is absolutely inexcusable. The article sites Massachusetts “lack of access to gas pipelines” as a key factor when the market experiences volatility. We cannot control COVID or the war in Ukraine but our leadership set us up for failure when these situations do occur. They will certainly use them as scapegoats. Do not believe the manipulation.

This was a self created problem and many people will experience a cold winter because of it.

Vote November 8th.

National Grid says electricity prices to skyrocket - CommonWealth Magazine NATIONAL GRID said the price of electricity it supplies to customers in Massachusetts this winter is going to skyrocket to record levels because the cost of natural gas, the primary fuel used to generate power in New England, is soaring. The utility said on Wednesday that the cost of electricity pro...

Endorsement Alert!

The Massachusetts Correction Officers Federated Union has endorsed my candidacy for State Rep!

As many of you know my professional background is in Public Safety as a forensic scientist. When we were successful in our job solving a crime it meant we had to hand off some dangerous people to correction officers. They are such an important part of the the criminal justice system to keep us all safe as well as rehabilitate many individuals before they re-enter society. I will always support the hardworking men and women in our state correctional system and I am very humbled they they saw that commitment in

Two straight hours of beeps and waves in Pembroke this morning! Thank you to everyone driving by showing support and an extra big thank you to the twenty volunteers who came from four different towns in the district to help with our stand out. We are keeping up the hard work and energy all the way through November!

This was a day for the books! So happy to be a sponsor for the Prom Angels Foundation Golf Tournament. Check them out online to see all the great work they do for people with disabilities! Then I was off to enjoy Marshfield LobsterFest at the town pier before supporting the Pembroke Watershed Association at their annual fundraiser. Plus we got plenty of signs dropped off while we were crossing the district. No minute to waste when I am meeting voters and hearing what issues matter to you while supporting great organizations.

Endorsement Alert!!!

The National Federation of Independent Business, Massachusetts PAC has endorsed my candidacy for State Rep!

As some of you know, my family has been operating our small business for generations. From the humble one man shop beginning in my Grandfather’s backyard, to the larger multi-crew operation on Route 18 today, it has always been something I have been incredibly proud to descend from. I promise to always support small businesses in the 6th Plymouth and across the Commonwealth, NEVER forcing them to close or carry an unfair tax and regulatory burden that would negatively impact their ability to grow our local economy. Thank you again to the NFIB for seeing that commitment in me.
