It’s so hard saying goodbye to my regular Mama’s but I am so grateful that they have chosen to spend their postpartum journey with me and love seeing their little ones grow up and develop. 🙌

The best part of my job is meeting all you lovely Mama’s and your beautiful little ones and not only seeing them grow and develop but also seeing you too getting stronger and fitter as you continue on your postpartum journey and I am so grateful I can be part of that.

Last night was our last Bootcamp session outside. With the nights drawing in we are moving back inside Clements Hall Leisure Centre

Classes are suitable for all fitness abilities with adaptations to suit. Each week we have a different and varied session meaning you’ll never get bored!

This is a childless female only fitness class so gives you time to let off a bit of steam and do something for you. So come along, have a bit of fun with the girls.

From September our Tuesday classes will be moving to The Jellyfish Hub, Leigh on Sea

📍10am - Mamilates - 45 minute Pilates style session focusing on rebuilding core and muscle strength🧘‍♀️
📍11am - Sweaty Strength - 30 minute HIIT style class where you can build up your fitness and strength effectively. 💪

The Jellyfish hub is a lovely studio, you can also grab coffee and cake 🍰 after class.

🍉 Tips For Staying Safe & Cool Babywearing in Summer 🌴

🧡 Drink or feed more often to ensure you both stay hydrated

💛 Dress yourself and baby in light, neutral coloured clothing made from natural fibres as these are the most breathable

🧡 Remember that your carrier counts as a layer of clothing for baby, so remove a layer before you pop them in

💛 Use a muslin cloth between you and baby to soak up any excess sweat

🧡 Babies can become unsettled in the heat, so check their temperature regularly, watch out for their cues and if needed, remove your carrier and take a break to cool down

💛 Stay out of the sun if you can, especially around midday

Diastasis recti is the partial or complete separation of the re**us abdominis, or “six-pack” muscles, which meet at the midline of your stomach. It is very common during and following pregnancy. This is because the uterus stretches the muscles in the abdomen to accommodate your growing baby.

One study found that up to 60% of women may experience diastasis recti during pregnancy or postpartum.

The condition isn’t limited to pregnancy though! It can affect anyone, including newborn babies and men. In some cases, it can result from lifting heavy weights incorrectly or performing excessive or unsafe abdominal exercises.

Don’t let this stop you though Mama! Exercises are easily adapted to suit and to strengthen the abs. Ask us more about what we can do to help with this area.

One of my most frequently asked questions is 'How old does my baby need to be to start classes?'

We actually welcome babies as little as 6 weeks old, however the answer actually depends on you!

It depends whether you feel ready physically and mentally!

It depends how your recovery has been so far: whether you have any ongoing C-section discomfort or pelvic floor issues etc.

It depends what type of birth you had.

And of course what your current energy levels are like - although I can't recommend the classes enough for boosting your energy levels!!!!

Everyone's post natal experience and recovery is different and what's right for one person may not be right for another - but rest assured, whenever you're ready - I'm here for you!!!!!

A woman’s body is amazing.

During pregnancy, we grow a new organ… the placenta, our bones soften, we produce more blood, our hormones are all over the place, the uterus grows to the size of a watermelon and the list doesn’t stop there.

Most importantly, we grow another human! 👶🏼

If you’re ever feeling down about how your new postpartum body looks or feels, just remember everything you’ve been through to get to where you are now.

You’re a brand new woman, and a mother, the best job in the world 🥰

Did you know that our classes are not just for when baby arrives, but are suitable during pregnancy too?!

I have a few Mamas expecting at the moment and I love nothing more than seeing their bump grow week by week! 🫶🏼

Exercising throughout pregnancy is not only beneficial for you, but for your baby too! 🤰🏻

Every pregnancy is different, so it’s important to make sure your prenatal exercise regime suits your needs and requirements. ALWAYS check with your midwife/GP before starting a new fitness routine when pregnant.

Exercising during pregnancy can:

✔️ Boost your mood
✔️ Reduce your aches & pains
✔️ Help you sleep better
✔️ Improve your baby’s health

Did you know that all Sweaty Mama block bookings are flexible?

🗓️ Just let me know if you don’t see a start date on the website that suits, and I will do my best to accommodate the start date that works best for you. Classes run all year round, not just during term time.

🏖️ Bookings are for 6 consecutive weekly classes from the date of your first session, however let me know at the time of booking if you have any holidays coming up, or specific dates you can’t attend (e.g. for vaccinations/special occasions), and I will carry these classes forward for you

🤒 If you can’t attend a class last minute due to illness or unexpected circumstances arising, subject to availability I will always try to offer you a catch-up class at another venue that week, or the opportunity to double up the week after

Mamalates is the perfect mix of low impact strengthening exercises combined with relaxation and breathing techniques to help ease you back into movement again after giving birth.

Focusing on core and pelvic floor exercises this class is IDEAL for new Mamas who want to get back into some gentle exercise, but don’t want to jump around quite yet!

You are welcome bring your little one too so no need for childcare! They love having a wiggle or chill on a mat or getting involved in some of the exercises too!

Maternal mental health week is an important time for us to raise awareness and support for the emotional well-being of mums. It provides an opportunity to destigmatise mental health struggles that many mums face, such as postpartum depression and anxiety! 🧠

At Sweaty Mama we have a culture of support, understanding, and compassion. We create a safe space and community for mums to share their struggles and seek the support from each other.

It’s absolutely critical that mums prioritise their own mental health and seek support and guidance when needed. As a brand, raising awareness for maternal mental health is very important.

Strong pelvic floor muscles boost your core strength and stability.

Your core which includes your pelvic floor muscles support your growing baby during your pregnancy but they are stretched and weakened during pregnancy and labour. This can make them weaker and they may not work as well as they did before your baby was born which means it's important to do targeted exercises postpartum to regain your strength and stability.

At Sweaty Mama many of our exercises are designed to gain strength and stability.

Our classes are designed for all fitness levels. We have higher and lower intensity exercise options for you to choose from so you can easily take it at a pace to suit you.

Listen to your body and most importantly enjoy yourself! Our aim is to rebuild your strength and fitness after birth safely and gradually with our Pre and Post natal specialist exercises.

A way of finding time for me and baby

I have for many years enjoyed gym classes. It wasn’t just for the workout, it was a really sociable time too. Before our baby I took working out for granted and just assumed that I would be able to fit everything back into my schedule as a new mother.

How wrong I was, reality soon kicked in as when my son started to crawl and then walk. From that point on I was always on the go with him which meant no time for me, let alone to take care of my body. With no childcare available I felt lost. A friend told me about Sweaty Mama fitness classes where I could work out and take my son with me, better still he could get involved too. It was an ideal solution. I could now have quality time with my son all while making it fun as I worked out.

I loved it so much I signed up to become a part of the franchise.

Rest assured our classes are suitable for all levels of fitness. Trust me you and you baby will have great fun and I am here to support you in our friendly classes. Why not come along and give it a go!
