The start of a new month can bring new blessings, new goals and new beginnings. November is a month where most people reflect on what they are thankful for. While it may feel like the world is in shambles right now, it is important to acknowledge that you are here, you are alive and tomorrow is a new day.

Oh and save your coin because Dew U Honey Beauty is coming REAL soon 👀

I personally love this quote. How can you expect to become the person you want to be - financially, emotionally, physically, spiritually - if you don’t make the moves to direct you towards that path. Start thinking about how you will start that business, buy that house, quit that job you hate, join that church, etc. and take action. I know it’s easier said than done. I’m the most complacent person I know. But at least I can say that I’m taking the baby steps towards where I want to be.

Have you taken that first step yet?

Mask Acne (MASK•NE) is a new skin problem a lot of us have been dealing with for the past 6 months. As if we need any more problems! But don’t worry boo, we got you 😉

1. HYDRATE!
As soon as you step out of the shower, apply a nice thick cream all over your body. Don’t forget to moisturize your face. Try not to wait to apply your skincare as products work best when the skin is still damp. This allows for better absorption rather than the products just sitting on top of the skin.

2. AVOID HOT SHOWERS
Yes, I know hot showers feel amazing. But the heat from the shower can dry up on the natural oils on your skin and face, leaving the skin feel tight and dry once you step out.

3. START INCORPORATING OILS IN YOUR ROUTINE
I love using oils all year round from head to toe. So much so that it’s one of the first products we’re releasing just in time for the cold weather 😉 Don’t just apply cooking oils like olive oil and coconut oil on your face. Take a look at our previous post about linoleic v. Oleic acid and see what oils work best for your skin type

4. EXFOLIATE
Exfoliate your face and body every 3-4 days to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. You can use a physical or chemical exfoliate depending on preference. Just make sure it doesn’t contain any abrasive ingredients like nut shells, charcoal, etc that aren’t perfectly round as they can cause micro tears in your skin leading to scarring, acne and other skin conditions.

5. CONTINUE WEARING SPF
Just because you’re not going to the beach anymore doesn’t mean you should stop wearing SPF! The sun is around all year round so you should be wearing SPF everyday unless you live under a rock 😂

Feeling oh so good this Tuesday afternoon. The past couple days have been super stressful and I let it distract me from my REAL goals. The stress left a couple unwelcome visitors on my face but it’s ok! It’s a reminder that I need to slow down and just BREATHE GIRL. Feeling a lot better today so I’m going to spend the day working on Dew U Honey Beauty so I can give you guys high quality beautiful products later in the year.

Reminder: you are beautiful. you are worthy. Do not let outside distractions dim your light and keep pushing!

Let’s talk about essential omega fatty acids and how they can affect your skin!

When shopping for skincare products, it’s important to take into account the percentage of Linoleic vs. Oleic acids present in the ingredients. Acids may sound scary but these omega fatty acids are healthy for you! Believe it or not, oils are amazing for oily skin. Oily, congested and acne prone skin's sebum is predominately composed of oleic acid and deficient in linoleic acid. Facial oils with higher percentages of linoleic acid are beneficial in controlling acne and are easily absorbed into the skin. By using oils with a higher percentage of linoleic acid, you can help the deficiency and decrease your overall sebum production. Oleic acid, on the other hand, is thicker and feels rich, benefitting those with dry or aging skin.

If you’re not sure if you’re oily or dry, choose products that contain a good ratio between Linoleic acids and Oleic acids. Always remember to do a quick google search of each ingredient!

HAPPY NATIONAL ACNE POSITIVITY DAY!

These photos were taken during my freshman year of college. Stress, terrible diet, lack of sleep and low water consumption lead to damage deep in my skin. Desperate and with the lowest self esteem of my life, I saw dermatologists and they prescribed me antibiotics and medicated wash that did more damage to my overall health that was not worth the little results it gave to my skin. I stopped and did my own intensive research about skin health. I spent hundreds of dollars buying out local Walgreens and target for something that would help. Nothing was helping. Then I went back to the basics. Our body needs proper nutrition and nurturing to operate efficiently. I drank more water, brought a filter for my shower (AMAZING TIP), ate more fruits and vegetables, SLEPT BEFORE 4 AM, and incorporated botanicals and simpler ingredients into my skincare. I paid more attention to things that my my skin loved like lightweight oils and unscented products. And what my skin hated, coconut oil, parabens and silicones.

I keep these pictures to look back on this girl who was so sad and I tell her that she’s beautiful. Even saying these worlds bring tears to my eyes because I can still feel that pain that she held inside of her. My eyes were red in those pictures from crying before taking them. She didn’t have to feel that way. Acne is a universal skin condition but there’s so much stigma attached. our skin can make us feel vulnerable and insecure but we don’t have to give it power over us. Embrace the face that you have and share it with the world. You are beautiful!! 🥰 Celebrate your skin in every form 💕
