When I woke up this morning, I was shocked by very sad news circling on Facebook about a su***de of an employee who was working for a Sri Lankan Tech company. As per my knowledge, this was the first time something similar to this happened in Sri Lanka, but the root cause for this has been there for a very long time and no one cared about it. In 2020 I wrote this article about the cause of these "burnouts" and how to protect yourselves from that when the companies don't care about that. I believe this is high time for everyone in the Sri Lankan tech sector to be familiar with the concept and move away from those toxic work environments.

Lastly, whenever you have any idea about taking the last action, think one more time about it. There's plenty of help available and you just have to ask

While I was reviewing the stats on my medium blog, I noticed something strange. Out of all the interesting articles I've written, one random one is doing well. I noticed that the highest number of traffic for that article is coming from Google and then I did a quick keyword search to my surprise, my article was the top result, and google picked it up as a featured snippet as well.

Usually, when I write, I do really thorough research, do a few draft versions, and then finally finish the article. But this specific one was a bit different. I just noted down the steps I followed when I was implementing the solution thinking that if I mess it up, I can trace back what I did. When it was a success, I just published it.

It's grateful to see that what I share on my blog has been helpful to others and this makes me really happy and makes me want to share even more. Thanks a lot for your continuous support. ❤️

What's the best thing a writer can receive in return?

Let me tell you a quick story. I wrote this article a week back, expecting it'll be helpful for Sri Lankans who have moved to Canada recently. Because when I moved to Canada a while back with no friends & family, the only way for me to learn about things was by trying them out or watching YouTube videos from others.

Truth be told, I didn't expect this article to have a huge wave among Sri Lankans (who are currently in Sri Lanka) but boy was I wrong. I started getting messages and comments asking, how they can move to Canada because they were frustrated with what was going on in Sri Lanka. Since I've already written an article on the topic, I started sharing that with them and giving advice as I could.

At the end of each conversation, they were thanking me for sharing my experiences with them, so they can start dreaming big and start working toward something. For me, that was really rewarding.

By all means, I don't identify myself as a professional writer, but knowing the words I write actually help someone is the best return I can expect in return.
