The diaphragm is the only organ in the body that is skeletal muscle designed for voluntary movement, You can immediately take control of the diaphragm so therefore, breathing represents the bridge between the conscious and unconscious control of the body! If you can get your breathing to leave a stressed state, the rest of the parts of your autonomic nervous system will follow suit, creating a cha

This is an interesting article all about your mind's eye 👁️🙏🏼
"When we’re asked to imagine a scene or object, most of us are able to conjure up an image in our mind’s eye. But about 2-5% of the population can’t do this: they have a condition called aphantasia, and are unable to produce mental imagery at all."

Great to read headlines that look to more holistic approaches to mental health ❤️

I haven't posted here for a while. I'm preparing for this evenings Breathing and Meditation class and wanted to share this piece of writing by Jeff Foster. Healing does not always look good, pretty or kind. Western society is geared towards removing symptoms. True healing nearly always involves opening old wounds and a courageous confrontation with our pain.

Tonight, we are going to practice the box breath technique again (see below) for just 5 minutes, then we are going to come down to a lying position for the duration of of practice to promote deep relaxation. Give yourself permission to have this time just for you. You can do this on your bed, on a sofa and the key is to find a quiet space that's really comfy and warm (perhaps with a blanket over you and lots of cushions/pillows).
"Box breathing is a powerful, yet simple, relaxation technique that aims to return breathing to its normal rhythm. This breathing exercise may help to clear the mind, relax the body, and improve focus. The technique is also known as “resetting your breath” or four-square breathing. It involves exhaling to a count of four, holding your lungs empty for a four-count, inhaling at the same pace, and holding air in your lungs for a count of four before exhaling and beginning the pattern again."

Just came cross this article about breathwork 🙌🏼
"The fact is, it works… and we’ve never needed it more. There are (almost unbelievably) simple breath techniques (like ‘resonant breathing’) that have the power to fix both high and low blood pressure (there are no pharmaceutical drugs that can do that). And while there are anti-anxiety and anti-depression drugs that can suppress the overactive ‘fight or flight’ response of the sympathetic nervous system, there are none that actively stimulate the naturally soothing ‘rest and digest’ effects of the parasympathetic nervous system… yet breathwork does this rapidly, and for free, with almost no effort, and with zero side effects."

A friend (Thank you, Rachel) sent me this really interesting article about her personal experience of long-COVID;
"EVERY single person I have seen with long-COVID breathes poorly. All of them. And many were very likely to be poor breathers pre-COVID, because when I start to dig into their past health they realise that they were already not breathing well".
