David A Justiss, fantasy author
Hi. I'm a weird fantasy author who also loves God, dogs, board games, heavy metal, and iced tea. Fin
So there this site where you enter two "themes" and the AI comes up with a paragraph of narrative about them. I put in two aspects of The Sacred Key (Aliens and a Door to the land of the dead). The paragraph it gave me didn't mention aliens, but the stuff about the Door to the land of the dead was weirdly accurate to the story:
"Few people know about the door to the land of the dead. It is a secret that is kept by a select few. It is a door that leads to a place where the dead can come and visit the living. Some people believe that the door is a way for the dead to take over the world. Others believe that the door is a way for the dead to come and see their loved ones before they go to heaven or hell. No one knows for sure." - by the AI on https://narrative-device.herokuapp.com/
Narrative Device Hi, I am PhD student exploring human-AI collaboration. I love the response this has received, but compute costs are stacking up pretty quickly. If you had fun, please consider donating here so I can keep it online for others to enjoy :)
Just posted something to my blog about a couple movies I just watched in the past few days. I'm hoping my dog wasn't too traumatized by The Hound of the Baskervilles.

The Hound of the Clock in its Walls One thing I’m generally pretty bad at when I’m writing stories is showing characters’ emotions. And I noticed something else tonight related to that. I just finished watched a 195…
I have a new blog post. I might even start posting there semi-regularly again.

My Interest in Scary Stories I don’t remember her exact words, but recently my mom asked me a question roughly to the effect of “Why do you have a sudden interest in horror movies and shows?” Here’s my …
I wrote a thing. It looks like a devotional kind of thing. It's not what I normally write, but also cool.

Happy New Year!
Here's what I wrote for this year's* Christmas devotional book. It earned me an editor's note/disclaimer in the print version (they didn't put the editor's note on the blog at least). When my writer's group starts putting the book together each year, I keep thinking "I write fantasy. I don't do devotionals. Are you sure you want a devotional from me?" But I've never actually said it...
(*EDIT: by this year I mean last year. as in 2019)

Here's a poem I wrote for my local writer's group's annual Christmas Devotional 2014:

I'm writing a story where the main character dies.
It's not a spoiler if I don't say which story. I mean, it could be some short story that'll never see the light of day. It's definitely not the first one I'm getting published...
I just found this at Half Price books the other day. Who knew this was a thing?
I want to let you all know The Sacred Key, this book I'm in the process of self-publishing, is not my first novel. I've written a few novels before I had anything worth publishing. No, this is my magnum opus.
(...so far)
Thanks for visiting my page. Yesterday I sent my novel,The Sacred Key, to an editor. I'm gonna get it published. I'm gonna do this. This is exciting.
