Reflections on Mother's Day: Embracing Change & Finding Strength 14/05/2024

When I can't sleep, I write.

Reflections on Mother's Day: Embracing Change & Finding Strength As I sit down to document this moment, the clock ticks over to Mother’s Day, 2024. It's a significant day, not just because of the calendar, but because it marks my first sober Mother’s Day in what feels like an eternity...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Let's make a pledge together: this month, let's each reach out to at least one person. You never know the impact a simple message or conversation can have on someone's mental well-being.

Whether it's a friend, family member, stranger, or colleague, a small gesture of support can make a world of difference. Let's break the stigma and show that it's okay to talk about mental health.

Together, we can spread awareness, support, and kindness. 💙

Son,

We had a great night sharing thoughts and laughs, mainly because I fell asleep as we were watching COCO. We planned we would take your sisters to school the next morning and then we would go eat breakfast. You asked me if we could go to the aquarium and I said “of course we could” I had called out of work to spend time with you. We were going to talk about bringing you back home from Seattle and transferring you to Regis University like you said. It was all left untouched and unfinished and my world suddenly stop. It has been six years since April 17,2018 the last day I had you in my arms, the last day I told you “I’m going to bed”. I walked upstairs not knowing I would wake up to the unbearable and unfathomable and paralyzing feeling, soon to be reality of your departure. This moments can never be erased from my memory they have substance they have meaning. I had to choose to live or to die. I choice to live for the both of us and your family. I took every ounce of me to pull my self up. Along with the help of my friends/co workers and most of all our family. I was able to laugh and start the process of loving life again, it has not been with out challenging days through this six years since you have been physically absent. I could now assure you that I have learned to carry you with honor, pride and meaning. I will always feel proud of the things you accomplished and the things you are helping me accomplish in honor of you. I will never give up on you. You are my son and I your mother forever.
We will smile and enjoy the aquarium on April 18 as we remember you and continue to love you my handsome little man.

Love you infinity times infinity,
Your Mother

Ride for Hope 🌟 Embracing the Journey with an Amazing Team 🌟

Reflecting on the Ride for Hope journey, it's incredible to see how far we've come, and none of it would be possible without the support of an extraordinary team. Back in 2013, when I embarked on this venture, my vision was clear, but the roadmap was uncertain. With no manual in hand, I relied on the guidance of my heart, trusting that it would lead me to the right people.

Today, I am honored to introduce my sister and Big Pea. Beyond riding together, we've forged a beautiful friendship, turning a vision into a thriving community. The journey continues, and with such an amazing team, there's no limit to what we can achieve. Here's to embracing the ride and building a legacy of hope! 🏍️💙

I never believed I could radiate love to the world again. Living without Brianna seemed suffocating, and I anticipated a life of numbness. However, through my journey, I've discovered various forms of love, and amidst it all, my love for my children stands as an enduring force, surpassing any love I could ever fathom in this lifetime. My unwavering love for my children remains the strongest. 💖🌈

WOW! What can I say about this weekend, it was a fricken blast, I love everything about the hustle and bustle of events. Setting up, tear down, the long hours preparing for the event, the long hours period!

The last time I did the Colorado Motorcycle Expo was in 2016, I had only been riding a few years still getting my feet wet in the biker community and promoting Ride for Hope My hope when I started riding and started Ride For Hope was to be a voice and a safe place for others to come ride and create a community where it's ok if you're not ok, to create a safe place where you can share your dark times, to share your stories. I wanted to honor our loved ones who have gone before us, I wanted to hear their stories.

As I enter my 10th year of riding, I find myself reflecting on the modest imprint I believe we've left on the biker community. This journey has brought me into contact with remarkable individuals who have wholeheartedly embraced our mission. Here's to many more years of riding, forging connections, and contributing to positive change. Remember, you are not alone in this journey.

Gabriela Mayorga and Eileen V Thompson I Love you and couldn't imagine this journey without you.

I'll See You Tomorrow.

I love you all so much

I have always been humbled in my journey, I'm a mom who lost a child, and a widow trying to live this life the best I know how. Because of the amazing people in my life who have followed me from the beginning, who have supported me, and who saw the same vision as I do, we have been able to grow and touch the lives of others.

I have an amazing team that supports Ride for Hope and amazing people who have never missed a ride since its inception in 2013.

Ride for Hope supports the resilience of our communities who are facing darkness and despair that they are not needed in this life, to the contrary our world is a better place because of you!

My story is your story, our story, and together we can make a change.

Ride for Hope is honored to be at the 2024 Colorado Motorcycle Expo

The End......

This morning as I sat in my favorite place to take in the beauty, drinking my morning coffee and where I get my inspiration. It seems as though my writings come to me when I am in my raw moments, my darkness, my fight or flight mode.

The inception of Glimpses of Me. I started writing after Brianna died, it was about 3 years later that I knew I wanted to write a book. I always wondered how I would END it, and when would be a good time, I mean think about it, you can only talk about Grief so much, nothing has changed I still miss Brianna every single day, I think about her every single day, yes I have gotten stronger the tears have gone into hibernation for the time being, I have learned every year to deal with the pain, the Angel day, the Birthday, Holiday’s.

I wanted this to truly be a “Journey” It’s the journey of my life without my child, it’s a Glimpse of inspiration, happiness, darkness, and love. It’s how I have been able to come through this journey of Hell and turn it into a life full of passion. My dream someday is to travel and speak, to share my story, to inspire.

The death of a child truly changes your life, it tears your family apart piece by piece, it’s not all at once, it happens over time. My Husband took his life, he could no longer bare the loss of his child along with 16-plus years of physical pain.

I want to be the voice, the voice that others don’t have, I want to be transparent, so others know they are not alone. Our system is broken, and corrupt, our society has failed, yes there are many great people in the world, but there are so many distractions, so many obstacles. Raising a child today is way different than raising a child when I was growing up. We played until the streetlights came on, we sat at the dinner table to eat as a family, there was communication.

I once was speaking to an editor, and they asked me “what is the target market for your book?” I thought to myself “well everyone” she told me “you need to have a target, is it about grief?” again thinking to myself, I know for a fact that my story has helped others in all areas in life, whether it be work, life, marriage, they looked to me and thought if this Woman can do it so can I and that’s what I want this to be about, we ALL have tragedy we have been through, obstacles we had to overcome, and sometimes we just need to see someone else’s life, or story. I get inspired by different stories, I could be watching something on tv and get inspired, not only for the health part of it but also for other struggles I may be having, because this person made a choice to go outside their comfort level, to go outside the box and to me that is an amazing thing, so it pumps me up to do what I gotta do.

I have had some very dark moments in my time of Grief, some I have yet to share, when the time is right, they will come out. The struggles our family has faced since the death of Brianna, some I have shared and some I have not. It’s interesting as I type this, I am reminded of what I learned when I had training to be an Advocate for Donor Alliance. There are parts of our stories that are very intimate, very private, we don’t share those because they are very close to our heart, they are so close that if we share them it could be the final moment that breaks us forever, I have some of those and I keep them very close to my heart I protect them, because it’s a moment with Brianna that is TOO hard to go back to.

The one thing I never anticipated in this journey was that 13 years later that I would actually be fighting for my life, that I would be fighting to stay here and participate in a world I was so confused in. How hard it would be to wake up and put two feet on the ground, it’s different than the beginning when Brianna died, yes it was hard to wake up, but I woke up because I had a purpose. The past weeks have been exhausting, I wonder how I have any strength left, how I still have tears that flow so freely. This is a new journey for me that I will adapt to and pay very close attention to, my well-being, my surroundings and what I need to do to get through this season.

So, I guess it’s not the end I will continue to write, my book will be an ongoing story. I am thankful I am inspired to write again; I have not done it for a very long time, it’s for me, it’s how I process my life and the changes I have gone through; I hope along the way I can change just one person’s life.

The End, nope not even close. I will fight the fight.

Men Matter Too - Glimpses of Me 14/11/2023

Recently I took on a new journey I have been wanting to do for a very long time and that was to start a podcast. It's a spin-off of the book I am writing, "Glimpses of Me" Through my journey, I have always wanted to find a way to honor the fathers left behind, the men struggling in silence. We need to bring our men to the forefront, they have feelings too.

Men Matter Too - Glimpses of Me Men have feelings too, I wanted to talk about the men in our lives and how they are struggling as well. We need to be their light and show them we are a safe place for them.Let's change the thought process, and help the men in our lives.
