If you ask Brother Josh Holly (Tennessee 1997) when he truly discovered the “reach” of Phi Gamma Delta, he will probably quickly rattle off a number of examples. There was the former chapter president he overheard at a dining facility at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay say, “I think that guy was my Field Secretary.” He might tell you of the time he connected with a Kansas State Brother during a mortar attack at Balad Air Base in Iraq. Another would be the time he stood up in the middle of a meeting at one of the premier government relations firms in Washington, D.C., to “shake the hand” of a potential client who he had just realized was a Brother from his own chapter, Kappa Tau. More than likely though, he might tell you of the countless Brothers he has met along the way: all of the mentors, the mentees, his oldest’s godfather, the good times, the bad times, and everything in between.
Josh graduated from the University of Tennessee where he held leadership roles on campus and in the Kappa Tau Chapter, and upon graduation joined the international headquarters staff as the 124th Field Secretary. Josh has also served as an officer on the Board of Directors (Archon Secretary) and the longtime public relations director for the Fraternity.
Consistently ranked as one of the top “hired gun” lobbyists in Washington, Josh will tell anybody who will listen that the International Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta is interwoven throughout his professional career as well. Professionally, Josh brings extensive defense and budgetary expertise with over 20 years of public and private sector experience to his role as President of Holly Strategies — a boutique government relations firm that focuses on the intersections of aerospace and defense, technology, innovation, and world affairs. With close ties to current and legacy congressional leadership, he leverages a solid background in government acquisition policy to support clients interested in building or expanding their presence in the federal marketplace.
Josh is eager to help GW Colony Brothers find their professional footing! Interested in becoming a Founding Father? DM us today!
