The Unicorn Habitat is enjoying a day without severe weather and rain! A luxury this time of year in the Deep South.
We talk a lot about canine body language and interaction. I wanted to show a video from the farm today: We have Jett a 10yo spayed female Doberman who is visiting and Macallan, a 6yo intact breeding male golden retriever. Both dogs are body language fluent and generally considered to be quite confidant in their interactions. Watch this video and see how at the end, Jett indicates she’s done playing with subtle body language and Macallan responds with his subtle body language by disengaging in play immediately and sniffing.
It’s a beautiful example of healthy, clear, body language signals and receiving of signals.
Special thank you to Veterinary Behavior Consultants of Alabama for letting us borrow Jetty for a few weeks to get some educational footage of working breeds excelling without the use of painful or aversive training methods.
Both Jett and Macallan have been fully trained to advanced skills without the use of any outside tools or corrective devices.

I missed the REAL zoomies because Macallan and Figg decided to join in and everyone was going a little too fast for comfort 😂. But I think it’s safe to say his first venture into the big pasture was very fun! He’s now back in his mini paddock just chilling.
