I still can’t stand for very long and stairs up to my studio are still hard so no big paintings yet. For now my studio is this folding table in my living room. It works just fine for non messy stuff. I’ve been doing drawings then scanning them and trying different things on each one before setting down the version I like on the linoleum.

Hi Art Buddies! Remember this book?! I’m in the car repair shop with flat tire and a good book. I haven’t read book this since 1979! OMG.. that is hard to believe. It was part of my freshmen year curriculum in Color Theory at Hartwick Collage. Thank you Hartwick. It’s a great tool. 50th edition. Fabulous reread!

Grab them while you can! Sales benefit Neighborhood Print Studios programs. (And …interesting side note: a bunch of us artists were standing around talking and it turns out many of us either went to the .mfa or in Boston. I did my BFA at Tufts with Fine Art at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston :SMFA, then fine FIne Art Diploma and on to win 5th year Traveling Scholarship Award jn 1996. So I was around SMFA a lot from 1982 ish to 2000 ish… We were probably in the same classes or studios together and didn’t know it and .. .flynn.5201254 you are someone many of us studied with! Another one from Monday.. Again.. just keeping moving. I could go back and fix a few things but I’m going for the beat poets motto: “First thought, Best Thought” and leave it at that. Marks in time. I have a renewed outlook of time these days. I find myself sitting on the deck just staring into the woods or the meadow across the way. I smell the grass, feel the breeze and hear the tall trees rustling over head. And for a few minutes that’s enough. That’s it. I love that feeling of being inside time rather than looking at it or counting it or afraid of it. Just be inside and with the flow… go with what’s there and trust you’ve done the work before to be able to let go in that moment and just be in it. No dialectic opposition.

I managed 2 from nights drawing session.
It’s nice to be back with the group! Mondays 6-9 and Fridays 3-6 at Jane St Art Center. My goal last night was to keep moving, keep it fresh and have a limited palette. 🎨. ©️ Jennifer Hicks, 9/2/24 #1, Acrylics and pastel on birch, 24” x 24”

Thanks to the Nordic Walking Sticks my sister gave me, I slowly slowly went for a walk! So exciting. People zoomed past me but so what. It was a beautiful day to take a walk. It’s been months … ugh since October since I could do anything even remotely like this. Maybe I pushed it a little too far but I’m ok and feeling good.
