Camp Slasher

A podcast about slasher movies from the 70s, 80s, and beyond!

24/11/2021

We’re taking this week off for Thanksgiving, so we’ll see y’all next week for Halloween 4!

17/11/2021

Okay this might be one of my favorite episodes ever. This week, we covered Halloween III: Season of the Witch! A cult classic and absolutely bonkers film. We are joined by special guest Ben Slaby, who can be found on Letterboxd as bslaby or listen to his band, Cheesy Bandito, anywhere you like to listen.

On Spotify, Stitcher, and Apple Podcasts now 🎃

12/11/2021

Hope y’all are having a lovely Friday ☺️

10/11/2021

New episode this lovely Wednesday where we cover Halloween II (1981)! Featuring perhaps some low purrs from this very special guest. Check it out wherever you like to listen to podcasts!

03/11/2021

Hope you’re ready for spooky season to just keep going because we are back! A surprise drop of Season 2 today, just for you.

This season we will be covering the wonderful Halloween series, starting with John Carpenter’s 1978 classic, Halloween. Maggie and Jacob are joined by actor (and amazing human) Jonathan Algeroy to tackle this murderous masterpiece. Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher. 🎃

We are off this week, but be sure to check out last week’s episode! It was truly a GREAT one.

Maggie & Jacob are joined by actor, singer/songwriter, & musician Myles Phillips, who also wrote and performed the amazing theme song to this podcast! Together we tackle the ninth installment in the Friday the 13th franchise: Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. For sure, the last one. This Friday the 13th movie will make you doubt everything you know about the series, Jason Voorhees, and Crystal Lake. It will also make you feel like you missed out on some movie in between that provided a whole lot of backstory and lore and characters that never existed before. For a film widely derided by Friday the 13th fans, we actually all really loved watching and discussing this movie together. Sit back, relax, and watch out for Jason worms.

Episode 09 is OUT, campers!

This week, Maggie & Jacob are joined by two lovely actors and overall wonderful humans, Joe Hanson and Madeline Lacey. Together they tackle a really fun installment in the Friday the 13th Franchise: Jason Takes Manhattan. This movie was the most expensive budget in the Friday series when it was made in 1989, and this is one of the longest Camp Slasher episodes thus far. Join us as we discuss Jason's magical adventure on a boat (and 10 minutes in Manhattan), full of creative kills, baby lake boy Jason hallucinations, and more teleporting Jason than one movie can handle. With villains you love to hate, and a wild 1980s score, this is a great movie to watch with friends or even by yourself.

Check out Joe on the Voices from the Umbra podcast, which can be found all places you listen to podcasts. Follow him on Instagram at and follow Madeline there too .lacey

Episode 06 is a GREAT ONE! This week we had an amazing guest, Tom Callahan, host of the Do I Even Know You? podcast, who joined us as we braved the waters of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning.

We might recommend maybe listening to our summary of the movie in this episode instead of watching the movie. Although successful enough to produce many more sequels, this Friday the 13th movie may not quite reproduce the same suspense and love that the other movies in this franchise have received. But buckle up as we tackle a plethora of kills, gratuitous nudity, and characters that only appear to be killed off by (not) Jason.

Episode 05 is out today! Join us as we cover Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter with our special guest, Betsy Wendorff.

We had a whole lot of fun watching this installment in the Friday the 13th franchise. With well known actors like Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover, characters you want to root for, and some excellent special effects, this movie is worth watching over and over again.

We are super excited to announce our guest for this Monday's episode: Betsy Wendorff! Betsy is a horror and cat enthusiast, which makes her the perfect guest for our podcast. Together we will cover Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter. The FINAL Chapter, which is odd, considering there are 8 more movies after this one.

This is a CLASSIC installment in the Friday the 13th series. Plenty of grizzly kills, suspenseful sequences, and the best dancing ever caught on camera performed by the one and only Crispin Glover. We are SO excited to talk to Betsy about this movie, and we can't wait for all of you to hear it next week.

Episode 04 is out! This time, Maggie and Jacob are joined by actor Jonathan Algeroy to tackle Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D. This episode is a really fun one, and this movie is really bananas. We had A LOT to talk about.

Despite the lackluster acting and story in this installment, there is still a lot of fun to be had watching it. Enjoy some real silly 3D effects, some grizzly kills, and a final girl run where the final girl really fights back.

We are super excited to announce this week's guest: Jonathan Algeroy! Jonathan is a phenomenal actor and a hilarious person in general and we are thrilled to have him on the podcast. Together, we will be tackling Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D!

This movie is truly wild. As indicated by its title, this movie jumped on the 3D train, maybe focusing most of the filmmaking on making the 3D effects work and less on things like acting, plot, & character development. But, we also get some really great kills & this is the movie where Jason picks up his iconic hockey mask.

Join us on Monday for all the thrills & kills! Catch up on our latest episodes wherever you listen to podcasts, or by clicking here: https://campslasher.buzzsprout.com

Episode 03 is out! Join Maggie & Jacob as we discuss My Bloody Valentine (1981) for a very special extra Valentine's Day episode.

This was the first time either of us had seen this movie all the way through and we both loved it. Some spectacular kills, great acting, and a killer with an elaborate calling card make this movie a real Valentine's Day treat.

We can't wait to sit down with this week's guest, Dustin Sutliff, to talk all about one of Maggie's favorite installments in this series, Friday the 13th Part 2. Dustin is an actor out of NYC, a true lover of country music, and wrote & performed the crazy fun Camp Slasher rap that appeared at the end of episode one. We have so much to talk about this week, with the first appearance of big Jason, the (spoiler alert) death of Crazy Ralph, and how psychology always wins the day.

Hope y'all are ready for this episode to come out on Monday!
