Hopefully some of you know me - I am Lana Jane, and I am a printed textile designer and mid-century enthusiast from Yorkshire, UK.

As part of my final project at university, I am looking to design some bespoke prints for individuals with exciting, varied, and interesting collections of interior MCM objects.

My project looks at the individual as a curator of their own retro home – exploring personal and individual narratives through the objects collected.

Ceramics, furniture, lighting, clocks, chairs, barware, nick-nacks etc…

If you have a collection of mid-century objects, I would love to see them and potentially honour your collections of objects in a print design. Please send me a message or email [email protected] with photographs of up to 10 mid-century objects from your home that you love, and I may choose them as inspiration if I think it is right for the project!

Dreaming of owning an original Eames wire chair...😴✨

This first image is a technical sketch of a 1951 Chair. I often need to understand the shapes by drawing an object accurately before I can then abstract it in my own way.

The second is a drawing done in 2 layers - colour separated using a lightbox - and then digitally combined.

A bit of inspiration today in the form of my living room curtains. They're original 1950s and the colours are still so beautifully vibrant.

I can't preach enough about the benefits of being surrounded by colour and pattern.

It's the weekend!! 🎉

I'd usually spend my day off visiting antique shops for some bargains and inspiration! Unfortunately this lockdown means finding inspiration elsewhere.

This pattern is based off 1950s and 1960s formica top tables, some in the "Paint Palette" style - useful for fitting around a chair arm - and others with the more atomic forms.

With all the change that has happened in these last few days, Christmas already feels like it was months ago!
I didn't make any commercial Christmas cards last year, but this one-off for a family member might inspire me for next year!

In addition to surface design, I'm also into crocheting as a hobby. I'm very proud of persevering and him, and he will hopefully take pride of place on my studio wall soon 🦊🌟

He's from a pattern from the book "Animal Heads" by Vanessa Mooncie.

A prototype pouch in one of my collaged prints from my 'Heritage' collection, all the way from Second year. I love looking back at old work and seeing where my influences and interests stem from; seeing this trail leading to now, showing how I've formed a love of texture and colour.
