Here's the thing. Inflammation is our body's immune response to unwelcome invaders (toxins) that try to harm us. But, if left unchecked, chronic inflammation can lead to the immune system turning on healthy tissue, thus causing illness and disease. Listening to deeply calming music is a fun and natural way of reducing (to varying degrees) this inflammatory response so that it does not persist at the highest levels when it is not needed.

It's April 19, 2024 and welcome to day 19 of National Stress Awareness Month! Let's get a little more technical today! Today's tip πŸ’‘ #19 is to listen to calming music that is around 60 beats per minute (BPM), as this seems to be an ideal tempo for when you want to be relaxed but not fall asleep outright!

60 BPM is on the low end of the spectrum of an adult normal resting heart rate range (60 to 100 beats per minute). Keep in mind that once you become relaxed, there is, of course, a chance that you might fall asleep (which might not be a bad thing 😊). But, music at (around) 60 BPM does afford you more of an opportunity to be relaxed, yet still be "conscious" (as opposed to slower music between 40 to 50 BPM, which is considered an average "sleeping" heart rate for adults).

❇️ Science states that by listening to music, especially of a song you like/ love, you'll increase happiness due to the brain releasing dopamine upon hearing the tune. Especially if you're not having the best of days, this greatly boosts your mood and makes you more relaxed.

It's April 17, 2024, and welcome to day 17 of National Stress Awareness Month! Today, there are TWO tips (getting you caught up from yesterday since it was reserved for our special company feature in WhereItzAt Magazine)! Today's tips are, of course, music-centered and will give you inspiration!

Tip πŸ’‘ #16: "Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway." ― Emory Austin.

Whether you take this literally or figuratively, by using it as a metaphor for your life, continue to persevere even through struggles. We all know that not every day will go exactly how we'd like it to (there may not be "a song in your heart"). But, when this happens, what do we do? The answer is, we keep going, and forge ahead (we "sing anyway") ... DO NOT QUIT! Because if we quit, we are certain to fail. Therefore, the choice (and only acceptable choice) is clear ... push forward. We've got this!

Tip πŸ’‘ #17: β€œHow is it that music can, without words, evoke our laughter, our fears, our highest aspirations?” ― Jane Swan.

Sometimes, even the most descriptive wording, phrases, figures of speech, and adjectives don't do justice to how we feel and the emotions we want to convey. Enter music! Music has an uncanny ability to evoke emotions within us that words can't. From one extreme (elation) to another (a cathartic purge), music works deep within our minds, bodies, and spirits to bring forth the range of the human condition. Admittedly, even after years of performing music, there still exists a bit of wonderment in it, in my eyes! Use music to tell your story!
