Bro. and Sis. Jay Bailey joined us this Sunday! Sunday night Bro. Bailey preached about "I don't have to..." Sometimes we wait back like the man at the pool of Bethesda even though we need a move from God. When Jesus comes, we don't have to wait! We can tell Him our needs anytime, and He can provide.

Happy Memorial Day! Last night we celebrated with root beer floats and a time of fellowship after church.

Horatio Spafford was well experienced in sorrow. His son died at a young age from pneumonia. His four daughters were killed in a sinking ship on the way to England. His wife survived the voyage and sent word to Mr. Spafford. He quickly boarded a ship to join her. The captain of the ship told Mr. Spafford when they were over the place his daughters died. While on this trip, Mr. Spafford wrote the words…

Happy Mother’s Day! Today Sis. Phillips spoke to our young people and we celebrated our mothers by giving them flowers. We are so thankful for our mothers!

Story behind the hymn ”The Old Rugged Cross”:
George Bennard was a preacher and songwriter whose favorite verse was John 3:16. The verse brought the cross to his memory. As he thought about Jesus’s death on that cross, a new tune came to his mind. He tried to add words to the music. The song slowly progressed. One day after a ministry trip, he sat down in his kitchen and the words quickly fell into place: “On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross…” Bennard said about the song: “I really didn’t write it. I was merely the instrument God used.” (from staugustine.com)

Ladies from the church enjoyed attending two ladies events last week- Carlinsville Ladies Retreat and the Shady Springs Ladies Day! We are thankful for the fellowship, encouragement, and prescence of God in the services!

We all go through things. Sometimes we lose sight of a coming blessing through the clouds of our circumstances. Sunday night Bro. Phillips reminded us that "Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." (Ecclesiastes 7:8). In the hard times, trust God and wait on His timing. He never fails.

We're so glad to see you for Easter and Christmas, but we would love to see you year round!

How did the disciples feel the second day? Discouraged? Doubtful? Hopeless? Emotions like these can sometimes cloud our vision, but then the third day comes! Join us tomorrow as we celebrate the hope of Jesus' resurrection!
