K.C. Cordell

I’m K.C. Cordell, author of the So You Survived the End of the World series. I like writing about aliens, monsters, and superpowers. I also do art.

Though the unfinished paintings collecting dust around me might scoff at that claim.

I didn’t get much reading in during December so I came into January hongry for some good reading. That’s right. Not hungry. HONGRY.

My 2022 reading is off to a healthy start this month with four enjoyable novels and 21 volumes of various manga! And unfortunately, two DNFs. (I was really bummed that they just didn’t hold my interest. I really wanted to like them. 😞)

For some reason, I didn’t track the manga or comics I read last year. But I know I read a TON of manga (as you may be able to tell from my January count), so I’m excited to keep track this year!

MY JANUARY READING

🔵 First Book I Finished in 2022
📖 Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao (Audio)

⚫ First Book I Started 2022
📖 All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman
(Surprising, not my darkest read this month!)

🔵 First Comic Read of 2022
📖 Apothecary Diaries: Volume 1 by Natsu Hyuuga
(My favorite read this month!)

ALSO READ:

⚫ Novel(s)
📖 War of the Bastards by Andrew Shvarts (Audio)
📖 The Disasters by M.K. England (Audio. My funnest read this month)

🔵 Manga
📖 Apothecary Diaries: Vol. 2-4 by Natsu Hyuuga (Arg! Need. MORE!!)
📖 The King’s Beast: Vol. 2 Rei Toma (My most “meh” read this month)
📖 Love of Kill: Vol. 5 by Fe
📖 Natsume’s Book of Friends Vol. 25-26 by Yuki Midorakawa
📖 To Your Eternity Vol. 1-14 by Yosh*toki Oima (My most “almost made me cry on more than one occasion” read this month, particularly the early volumes. And I only have one volume left before I’m all caught up! Oh, no! 😱)

I’m always keeping an eye out for interesting reads! So tell me, what was your favorite read this month?

Some fun facts about So You Survived the End of the World - Book 2:

💀 It will be longer than Book 1. Maybe twice as long. There’ll even be chapters and everything this time!

💀 While Book 1 features some mindless beast type of monsters called hellions, book two brings Baz and Meza face to face with a much smarter class of monsters known as sludgebrains.

💀 Get ready for some 90s hip hop
