Hello Friends and Viewers around the World,
We hope and trust you are all taking great care of yourselves, keeping the distance amongst friends and family ... six feet... two meters at minimum ! Such difficult times for us all to adjust to ...albeit brutal and tragic, we HAVE to, we MUST come to terms and ADJUST to the new social order and adhere to the scientific knowledge that will eventually ... who knows when ... overcome this global health crisis.
Politics aside ...at this “Moment in time“ I trust and hope y’all are doing your best to stay isolated and hence beat this horrific virus. Isolation is the key! I personally have been tempted over the past few weeks to fire up my truck and go to visit my horse Night Owl ... I have NOT done it.
Lucky for me, I am fully confident that that she is well taken care of at the Familyorchardfarms.com and am being sent daily video of her wellbeing. I miss her greatly, but as with most of you, we need to STAY HOME...regardless of our wants and needs. Emotionally difficult ...YES... but we MUST adhere to isolation at this juncture in time.
I have little more to say other than to tune in to informative programs such as my Producer, Aaron Ball, is now broadcasting on BLABTV, Facebook, and YouTube starting this Monday at 3:30pm and 10:30pm. Please join me in support of this programming as we each do our part to aid our leaders, first responders, healthcare professionals, and essential workers during this difficult time.
Night Owl Rider will henceforth be broadcasting only once a month in order to give broadcasting space to those who need it most and give y’all, our dedicated viewers, moments of enjoyment with Night Owl in her beautiful space.
I know y’all understand. Stay in touch. All my thanks and love.
Peace,
Phillip & NightOwl
Hello Friends and Viewers around the World,
The Spring is springing all around beautiful Night Owl. She seems to have a "spring" in her step, though she's noticeably missing her best friend.
BODY LANGUAGE:
I'm fascinated by everyone's body language in this new era of protective social distancing. By contrast, it's a joy to watch Night Owl's countenance and body language as Spring arrives. As with all seasonal adaptations...she seems exuberant at such "early and unexpected" arrival of Spring. She's a northern girl, getting her first delightful taste of Spring's early warmth in her deep-south retirement. Positive body language for sure!
Here are a few natural things she seems to be noticing as Spring blooms:
Flowers are opening into full bloom
The trees are pushing out their first tender leaves
Everywhere fresh and tender food is popping up as Night Owl gorges on her favorite southern delicacy — lush green grass grown in coastal clay.
The pond at Family Orchard Farms is full of nighttime sounds now — as frogs emerge from their winter slumber and croak out their sounds of attraction.
Each morning, Night Owl enjoys seeing the two Canadian geese ... a pair who seem to have been here before. Calm, friendly, and totally in command of "their pond." They seem reassured with Night Owl's presence, and don't even spook at the sight of humans walking nearby.
New life is incubating...mommas are sitting on their nests "social distancing" naturally for nearly a month now.
Chicks are hatching and chirping.
Night Owl is enjoying her daily morning grain... two heaping scoops of 12% protein stock and stable feed. Of course, she is fed first and alone as the head of the heard. It keeps everyone else calm knowing that the "Queen Mother" gets hers first.
She truly is such a gentle and resolute leader. She doesn't ever waste much effort scolding her "team" as lead mares often do. No, her sheer size with a meer shift of her weight can make four or five huge horses instantly jump back and "give her space to breathe."
I've never seen her truly upset at anyone...It takes too much effort!
If we all were so lucky to speak the body language of horses. Their natural evolution created a distinctively visual language, useful at long distances on the ancient plains...
There are many special interviews and "moments in time" to come... evoked by Night Owl's imposing, yet comforting, body language.
Peace,
Phillip & Night Owl

Hello Friends around the World,
Night Owl is enjoying the sun-filled days of winter in Florida, shedding some of her thick coat that kept her warm at her last home in Canada. So I groomed her well and had the farrier trim her gigantic hooves just for this episode!
This week, Night Owl had two iconic Pensacola visitors who have been friends of mine for decades. Dahl Burke, the daughter of arguably the most famous bar owner in Pensacola: Trader Jon, and Dean Baird who's wonderful stories and endeavors are too numerous to share.
Dahl, Dean and myself continue to enjoy a lifelong friendship and without doubt more adventures and stories will come to life as we all come under the magical spell of time with the Night Owl...!
If you haven’t done so already, take a tour through the TT Wentworth Jr., State Museum in downtown Pensacola and delve into the rich history of our Culturally strong City.
Peace,
Phillip & Night Owl
Hello Friends and Viewers around the World ...
The subject of today’s NightOwlRider.com broadcast is simple...
THE POWER OF PRAYER
In our current tumultuous World of a contagious Virus so small you can’t even see it with the naked eye and yet so massive in its impact on Global Society, we have to admit that the World as we knew it a few months ago has forever changed.
A time now is certain for contemplation, meditation and for those of Faith....Prayer.
One may well ask ...What is “Prayer?”
Prayer, in my humble opinion, can loosely be defined as an invocation or act that seeks to gain a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense of the word, it is an act of supplication or intercession toward a deity, for example God.
The POWER OF PRAYER is enormous, regardless of specific religions, faiths or personal ideologies. I have personally witnessed it throughout my six decades here on Earth as I’m sure have many of you.
When certain people close to me have encountered life threatening illness, when I have held friends in my arms as they took their final breath, people have prayed, prayer circles evolved and Ministries have asked their congregations to “ Pray”, not only for those afflicted but also for all those affected.
I have had numerous theological conversations with very learned people, way more so than myself and despite perhaps our differences on issues both Fundamental and Subjective, one thing is unanimous and clear: PRAYER brings HOPE and in many cases a reaffirmation of FAITH. These matters are way too complex and beyond my simple mind and certainly way too complex to delve into discussion in this broadcast.
However, the little I can offer is a few recorded personal moments of my “contemplation“ with Night Owl. I take great solace in my time with her, she being unaffected by world events, the media, and the enormous changes currently happening throughout our civilization. I hope and trust you can just “tune in” for a few moments, perhaps contemplate, meditate and/or pray in this quiet time, in your own way, for all those currently affected both directly or indirectly.
Particularly our World Leaders, who we now turn to to make the right timely decisions regardless of Political advantage, those in the field of Medicine and Research and many, many others... that’s for you all to decide if you so choose.
It doesn’t necessarily take a place of Worship to do this, it can be done at anytime, anywhere and my HOPE is that you understand this broadcast is sent with LOVE and PEACE as always.

Hello Friends and viewers around the World,
Let’s share PETS !!!!
My Pet, the famous and lovable horse Night Owl, I’m sure is lonely and I’m certainly missing not being able to visit her during this time of responsible home self isolation. The crew at FamilyOrchardFarms.com are taking excellent care of her during my absence and sending me daily photos and videos of her to me, all of which I treasure.
So how are your pets ? Giving you great comfort I’m sure but as some of our viewers who live in the “ Lockdown Cities” around the Globe have recently told me... things have changed. For dog owners, Parks are being closed, curfews are in effect, a leisurely walk down the streets to a coffee house or pub with your dog are mostly all a thing of the past for the foreseeable future. Some pets are loving having more time with you and your constant attention, and then some are let’s say “not so much” now that their accustomed routines have changed. I heard of one cat who is not impressed with having all the children home 24/7 and has become extremely territorial in a “ wet” kinda way !!
Everybody has a different story to tell with their pets so I encourage you tell your story through the eyes of your pet in this group!

Stay safe
