2 years ago I would have never dreamed of being the caretaker for my great x5 grandfather’s cemetery. But here I am; getting ready to host volunteer days in the fall and teach others how to follow that path. I think I just cried a little bit. Are you ready for this next adventure??

Fun fact for this weekend. While you are enjoying your time off remember the true reason we have this holiday. Many of our veterans do not get a flag and are forgotten.
If you have children this is one small thing that you can do and it doesn’t take a lot of time nor money.
Go get some small flags. Dollar tree sells a 5 pack. Have your children walk along a local cemetery and put flags on headstones like these. This small gesture goes along way and is a teaching lesson that hopefully will stay with them forever.

I went exploring at Freindship UMC cemetery yesterday. It was quite beautiful yet sad at the same time. A lot of vandalism has happened over the years and these poor stones have taken quite a beating. Looking inside the church; the original pews and fireplace remain. It would be quite wonderful if they could rehab it.

This is our current little project. I want each child buried at the cemetery to have a pinwheel in their remembrance. I’m half way there and hoping that soon I can make a more happier setting.

I’ve been trying to do some research on one of the headstones that I clean. One of these boys is Kenneth. He worked at the Indpls Postal telegraph cable company for 9years. He was only 16 when he passed away in 1938. This photo really shows what we forget about when we think about the Great Depression and the years after.

I took some photos today while at Crown Cemetery. Which is your fave?

It’s going to be a chilly start next week. That means more Cupid wings! So far 2 of the goal of 20 are complete. For Valentines Day we are doing Heavens little cupids. These wings will hang at each of the forgotten children’s grave at the cemetery. We distribute them on Jan 31. Join me that day on TikTok and help choose what wings go to what Cupid.

Made some floral arrangements yesterday and went after work to put them out. They might not be the prettiest but I made them with love. While walking around I found 12 more children graves and I hadn’t covered even 1/4 of the front of the cemetery. My goal for this year is to make sure every one of those precious angels has pretty flowers. I might need a little help but I will get there.
