The purpose of this page is --as the title suggests-- the redemption of Poznan "matzevas." Matzevas are Jewish gravestones. As so often sadly happened during WWII, the Germans not only destroyed Jewish lives, synagogues, and cemeteries, they also destroyed Jewish cemeteries' gravestones. The stones were often used in building projects for: roadways, stream embankments, curbing, and the flooring for artificial lakes. One, Lake Rusalka is 367,000 square metres.
