Yesterday I participated in the, Stop the Violence event, where Tishma Foy Mcgarrell and Myself, as well as others, gave back to the community by offering FREE HAIRSTYLES and CUTS and so much more!!!!

This event was AMAZING, and I truly enjoyed myself....

Sooooooooo,,, now all I can think about is all these kiddos going back to school in a few weeks!!!! And you all know I'm all for the KIDS!!!!

Every year I try my best to give back to the community... By offering FREE Simple HAIRSTYLES to the kids that are less fortunate. The saddest part is many don't accept the offer... But I know many need the services and I won't STOP trying to help and give back...

This year I'm going to try a different approach and contact some schools and Teachers I know and see if I will have a better turn out this Year!!!

Morning Rant.... Equals EXTREMELY LONG POST!!!

People will say that Nail Technician and Hairstylist aren't "Real Jobs"!!! And expect us to not be human, have a life, and be prosperous in this industry unless we are working on celebrities and millionaire's...

Many complain about our PRICES and think that everyone is supposed to charge the same thing or less.... SOOOOOOOOO... LET ME BREAK IT DOWN FOR THOSE WHOM NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING!!!!

1st:: I may not clock in and out on a regular day, but I work unquestionable hours.. Some days I have no Clients (some look at that as a day off, but sometimes I look at it as, no money made and bills are always due, also it can be looked at as no one booked today and I still have to make booth rent this week)... Some days I may have 1 client (depending on style and services done it can be make or break the bank (because either you made booth rent for the week plus extra.... or... you came in and loss money because what you made didn't cover a bill due).... Then you have the days where you are FULLY BOOKED, but yet you don't know what time you're getting off.. if you will get a break and eat, or my favorite... which body part hurts because you've either seat or stood tooooo long...) these are just a few thoughts I think of when people complain or say (Nail Techs and Hairstylist) aren't real jobs!!!

2nd:: COMPLAINING ABOUT PRICES AND WHY THEY AREN'T THE WAY THEY USED TO BE.....

Let Me Break Down WHY MY PRICES ARE THE WAY THEY ARE AND NOT EVEN MORE HIGHER THAN THEY ARE!!!

First, my prices should technically be HIGHER. But based off the CITY I live in they are this price... in a different City and or State, I could definitely charge more just based off the cost of living and things that are major in the city I live in... Living in a small town,,, sometimes hurts our pockets.

Secondly, prices will always increase just as they do EVERYWHERE... Dollar Tree went up $0.25 to $5... yet people still go and shop there for the same products... Gas and Food places raise their prices yet people still go.... Groceries have gone up... Rent went up.... Nothing is the same as when we were younger, so why should my prices????

And my PRICES will be DIFFERENT from OTHERS because my WORK and my WORK ETHICS are different than OTHERS... Yes, we may offer similar services, but we are not doing them the same!!! My services offers things that others aren't doing, just as their services my provide or do things mine doesn't, and that's perfectly fine because we are NOT MEANT TO PROVIDE THE SAME QUALITY of Work because we are ALL DIFFERENT and specialized in different areas!!!

Lastly, THE BREAK DOWN....

When questioning OUR PRICE you must first understand what all goes into this (WE HAVE TO BANK ROLL OUR OWN BUSINESS OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS)

Meaning::

- I am a Licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist and a Licensed Nail Technician (that alone has a Start price range) you're not dealing with just anyone playing in your hair or doing your nails... I take pride in knowing and having the knowledge to care for both your Nails and Hair. And I am continuously learning New Techniques and getting knowledge on new trends and products to be able to services all my client properly.

- I have to Purchase the Products Used on your hair (Shampoos, Conditioners, Detanglers, Hair Treatments,Heat Protectant, Gels, Oils, Setting Lotions/Foams, Holding Sprays, and etc.) And that was just hair.... for Nails (70% Alcohol, Acetone, Cuticle Oils, Lotions, Scrubs, Nail Tips, Polish, Gels, Acrylic, Pedicure Salts, Cleaning and Disinfectant Products, and sooooo much more)** all purchased out of my own pocket**...

-I have to Purchase the Equipment and Tools needed to service you,,,, and don't let me mention if I have to replace one... (Towels, Capes, Gloves, Shower Caps, Combs, Detangler Brushes, Dryers, Flat Irons, Curl Irons, Clips, Rubberbands, Bobby Pins, Chair, Shampoo Bowls, and sooooooooo much more) for Nails (All metal implements (nippers, clippers, Cuticle pushers, and more... Files and buffers, cotton, lint free wipes, nail drill, nail lamps, chairs, organizers, and sooooooooo many other items) ** ALL purchased out of my own pocket**

- I have to pay Booth Rent

- I have to pay for my Card Reader and Services for some payments

- I have to pay fees for my Booking Site

- all Salons have Lights, water, electric, and rent too (this is for those whom own their own salons)

- I offer refreshments

- I provide entertainment (movies, streaming, music)

- I provide the beads and braiding hair

- not to mention to gas for my car and car maintenance

- for me it's the health insurance and medical expenses...

- then, before I see any money, i also have to pay my own personal home bills

I can keep going... but these are the few things I have to always FACTOR in when it comes to PRICING, and the saddest part is MAJORITY OF THE TIME I don't see the money made because it goes right back out to cover the EXPENSES FOR THE BUSINESS and then right back to paying a bill and buying groceries, putting gas in the car, and before I get a chance to splurge on myself and family..

Before You QUESTION another Nail Tech or Hairstylist, please understand that OUR PRICES SHOULD BE HIGHER, but many times we are struggling... because even though it looks like we are making all this money, we sometimes NEVER see it because, we put it all back into OUR BUSINESS!!! So when you see us taking a WELL DESERVE trip or vacation or even getting a New Home or Car.... We worked OUR behinds off to get it!!!!
