Got grief-stricken and surreal news this morning about Kal David passed this morning! Kal has been a great friend of my dad and mom’s as his beautiful wife Lauri! Kal and my dad had played together and with over 50 plus years! Kal was playing when my dad took my mom on their first date!
We lost another wonderful man in this world and music. I know that Kal, my dad and many other incredible musicians are jamming.
I love you Lauri and if you need anything, you can call us anytime!

What an awe-inspiring day it was yesterday at the Shaboo Stage in Willimentic, CT. David and Marylin Fosters, Shaboo, friends, staff, volunteers and artists did an astonishing job with The Michael Finnigan Memorial Shaboo Concert to Benefit on behalf of my dad and other incredible organizations! It was and will definitely be a memorable day for us for a very long time! It means the world to The Finnigans. We are truly blessed, grateful and pleased to have amazing friends!
Moreover, My mom, Kelly and I wanted to say with the most full-hearted thank you to David “Lefty” and Marylin Foster for the astonishing philanthropy of $50,000 for scholarships for the Mike Finnigan School of Music at the Stiefel Theater in Salina, Ks. There is no words to describe how much it means to us and the kids that will be able to follow their dreams of learning the wondrous ways about music.

Hey There Family and Friends,

At the outset, let me take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you guys for your support, compassion and lifting up the Finnigan family these past two years. We feel truly blessed to have such amazing friends and family, you’re the best . It has been just over nine months since our father/husband slipped away in joining that heavenly choir. It is still very surreal and continues at times so hard to comprehend. This past year had certainly been a roller coaster of the highs and low in this thing we call life. Navigating the lows has at time been very difficult but the sun continues to rise and with it I want to share some brighter moments that always comes following the storm. Last Thursday at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, the Pinetop Perkins Awards, our dad was honored by receiving the award for best Instrumental Piano Player, daddio would have been humbled beyond belief. Kelly Finnigan and the Monophonics new album, Sage Motel, comes out this Friday, May 13th on Colemine Records. This will be their fifth studio album, check it out. Finally, on June 11th on the Shaboo Stage in Willimantic, CT., our dear friend, David “Lefty” Foster is hosting a benefit for his community honoring our dad and the Mike Finnigan School of Music. However, this is not the reason I’m sending you this communication. It was two years ago on May 18th my dad was diagnosed with liver cancer, that day coincided with my mother’s birthday. Some birthday present, huh. These last two years have been so strenuous for so many, but I wanted to do something special this year for my mom’s birthday. I wanted to have a party but she wouldn’t have it! So this is the deal, I thought that this would be the best gift I could give her. As you all know, Candy is the last person to do something nice or except things for herself. I’m asking you to please take a moment and let’s all show Lil Mommy the love on her birthday (today)!
Kelly and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Love,
Bridget “Bee” and Kelly Finnigan

P.S. thank you Bill Scully for your expertise with this!

Tonight in Memphis, TN at the 43rd Blues Music Awards, my dad won the Instrumentalist-Piano (Pinetop Perkins Piano Player Awards)! Incredibly proud of my Daddio. Over joyed but heartbroken. Nevertheless, I’m so glad that Kelly, my mom and I were able to make an acceptance video to honor, represent and appreciate my dad, all the nominees, musicians and The Blues Foundation. Congratulations to the other winners of the night.

In a day, it will be our first New Year without you Daddio, but please help mom, Kell, friends, family and I to have more love, laughter, healthy, happiness and smiles this year. Cause we are truly sad you’re not here in this crazy ass world. You sure would have a lot to say and try to make it a better place. So give us the strength and courage, my Daddio!

As hard as it has been being home these few days. To be able to see Kelly and The Atonements, these last few days has been very helpful. The last three nights were fun. Our mom and I were able to see Kelly and The Atonements Christmas tour and some great friends/family. We are so lucky to have amazing, loving, thoughtful, fun, funny and supportive friends/family! They are making it a little bit easier. Love you guys! .j.blair ❤️ happyholidays2021
